Rumours: Strong rumours also link the club with UCD defender Sam Todd. Declan Devine has reportedly been very busy early in the close season so expect plenty of movement in the coming weeks.

Cork City

In: Tunde Owolabi ( St Patrick’s Athletic), Ethon Varian (Bohemians – Loan), Matt Healy (Ipswich – Loan), Tobi Oluwayemi (Celtic – Loan), Albin Winbo (Varbergs BoIS), Kevin Čustović (Vejle – Loan), Daniel Krezic (Degerfors IF), John O’Donovan (Academy)

Re-signed:: Cian Coleman, Cian Murphy, Barry Coffey, Aaron Bolger, Ruari Keating, Ally Gilchrist, Jonas Hakkinen, Cian Bargary, Jimmy Corcoran, Darragh Crowley, Josh Honohan, Gordon Walker, Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh (2023)

Rumours: The First Division Champions face the daunting task of staying in the division next year. Finally back at the top table of Irish football they will most likely dip into the English market to attract some players although with a fresh signature on manager Colin Healy’s own contract they may be inclined to dip into the squad of title rivals Waterford after the Blues missed out on promotion themselves on Friday night.

Derry City

In: Colm Whelan (UCD), Conor Barr, Callum McCay, Darragh McCloskey (Signed from Academy) Tadgh Ryan (Bohemians), Ben Doherty (Larne), Adam O’Reilly (Preston North End), Matthew Ward (Ipswich – Loan)

PFAI Transfer Listed: None

Rumours: Fresh from their FAI Cup success the Candystripes aren’t anticipating many new arrivals, however the tenuous link of re-signing their former player and club legend James McClean has been circulating for some time. It’s unlikely but a European campaign for his home town club could complete a fantastic story and career for the Republic of Ireland International were he return to the Walled City.

Drogheda United

In: Sean Brennan (UCD), Aaron McNally (Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C), Michael Leddy (Shamrock Rovers – Loan), Ben Curtis (St Patrick’s Athletic), Fiachra Pagel (Loaned back from Forest Green Rovers), Conor Keeley (Ballymena United), Emmanuel Adegboyega (Dundalk), Jarlath Jones (Athlone Town), Elicha Ahui, Freddie Draper (Lincoln City – Loan), Andrew Wogan (Academy)

Out: Andrew Quinn (Shelbourne), Dean Williams (Bohemians), Darragh Nugent (Shamrock Rovers end of loan), Chris Lyons, Dane Massey (Both Bray Wanderers), Keith Cowan (Finn Harps), Kaleem Simon (Fleetwood United), Aaron Davis, Sam O’Brien, Georgie Poynton, Lee Steacy (Cobh Ramblers), Stevan Stanic-Floody,

Dundalk

Rumours: It’s been a disappointing season for the Boynesiders although they will have been happy to be comfortably away from the relegation zone. Very little business done for next season so far, but rumours of fresh investment in the club are circulating and could have an serious impact on recruitment in the coming weeks.

In: Louie Annesley (Blackburn Rovers), Connor Malley (Rochdale), Hayden Muller (Millwall), Cameron Elliott (East Kilbride), Archie Davies (Aldershot Town).

Out: David McMillan (Free Agent), Lewis Macari (Returns to Stoke City after loan ended), Steven Bradley and Runar Hauge (Returns to Hibernian after loan ended), David McMillan, Joe Adams, Sam Bone (Maidstone United), Brian Gartland (Retired), Mayowa Animasahun (Loan to Dungannon Swifts), Emmanuel Adegboyega (Drogheda United), Jack Harrington (Longford Town, left the Dundalk Academy)

PFAI Transfer Listed: Mark Byrne,

Rumours: A much more settled aura around Dundalk this season as they secured a return to European football with a solid league campaign, Stephen O’Donnell has identified some targets including UCD pair Dylan Duffy and Ben McCormack who debuted at St. Pat’s under O’Donnell. Caffrey is expected to sign elsewhere however and Duffy is still on a scholarship in Belfield and may elect to finish his studies before moving on.

Shamrock Rovers

In: Liam Burt (Bohemians), Johnny Kenny (Celtic – Loan), Trevor Clarke (Bristol Rovers – Loan), Markus Poom (Flora Tallinn – loan), Cian Barrett, Freddie Turley (Academy)

Out: Andy Lyons (Blackpool), Adam Wells (UCD), Viktor Serdeniuk (Longford Town), Chris McCann Contract Expired), Michael Leddy (Drogheda United – Loan), Dean McMenamy (Waterford), Aidomo Emakhu (Millwall), Oisin Hand (Longford Town), Cole Omorehiomwan (Bray Wanderers), Barry Cotter (Barnsley)

Rumours: A healthy bonus from the sale of Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City to Southampton along with the financial windfall of Europa Conference League qualification will give Stephen Bradley a war chest to recruit players this close season should he feel the need to do so.

Bradley has already indicated that Rover’s won’t be meeting ‘crazy requests‘ to strengthen their squad while the chasing pack, led by Derry and Dundalk are snapping at the heels of the three in a row Premier Division champions.

Shelbourne

In: Conor Kearns (Galway United), Tyreke Wilson (Bohemians), Kyle Robinson (St Patricks Athletic), Andrew Quinn (Drogheda United), Evan Caffrey (UCD), Matty Smith (Loan Deal made Permanent from Derry), Lewis Temple, Gavin Hodgins, Luke Browne (Promoted from Academy), Paddy Barrett (Free Agent having left St. Patrick’s Athletic), Kian Leavy (Reading – loan).

Out: Brendan Clarke (Galway United), Daniel Carr, Daniel Hawkins, Aaron O’Driscoll, (Released after contracts expired), Josh Giurgi, Kyle O’Connor, Jamal Ibrahim, Francis Campbell (Longford Town), Stephen Negru (Oxford United), Aodh Dervin (Longford Town)

PFAI Transfer Listed: Adam Thomas, Sean McSweeney

Re-signed:: Shane Griffin, JJ Lunney, Sean Boyd, Conor Kane, Kameron Ledwidge, JR Wilson, Shane Farrell, Brian McManus, Gavin Molloy, Jack Moylan, Jad Hakiki (2024), Luke Byrne, Mark Coyle, Scott Van Der Sluis, Aodh Dervin (2023).

Rumours: After a disappointing end to the season missing out on a chance of Europa Conference League Football as Derry destroyed them in the Cup Final. The carrot of a European adventure would have been the final artillery of Damian Duff’s recruitment arsenal but the Premier League winner is a big enough name to attract some talent from the league, the UK and further afield to strengthen his squad.

Rumours of incoming investment from Sport Republic, the London based American investment firm who also own Southampton FC, may give the Tolka Park outfit a real benefit in the search for the next hidden gem. New faces will be needed if they want to challenge for a European place.

Sligo Rovers

In: Johan Brannefalk (Norrby, Sweden), Danny Lafferty (Derry City), Lukas Browning (Dalkurd, Sweden), James Finnerty (Bohemians), Nando Pijnaker (Rio Ave), Gary Boylan (Galway United), Bogdan Vatsuk (Stal Mielec, Poland), John Mahon (St, Johnstone), Reece Hutchinson (Cheltenham Town – Loan until July), Stefan Radosavljevic (HB Torshavn)

Out: Paddy Kirk, Adam McDonnell (Both Bohemians), Shane Blaney (Motherwell), Seamas Keogh (Finn Harps) Lewis Banks, Robbie Burton (Released), Colm Horgan (Galway United), Cameron Evans (Taunton),  Scott Lynch, Peter Maguire (Ballinamallard United – loan), Aidan Keena (Cheltenham Town), Michael Lavin (Ipswich Town Academy)

PFAI Transfer Listed:

Under Contract: Fabrice Hartmann (Jun 2023), Garry Buckley, Karl O’Sullivan, Niall Morahan, Mark Byrne, Frank Liivak, Max Mata, Cillian Heaney, Luke McNicholas, Conor Walsh, Éanna Clancy, Kailin Barlow, Will Fitzgerald, Sean McAteer, John Vahey, Daire McCarthy.

Re-Signed: Greg Bolger (Player / Coach), David Cawley, Richard Brush, (2023)

Rumours: Sligo are always likely to pull a rabbit from a hat in any transfer window and the arrival of Swede Brannefalk and Fabrice Hartmann who will be eligible to play in the new year are perfect examples of that. The development of young, local talent has proven successful both on the pitch and for their bottom line with McGinty, Mahon and Kenny all moving to the UK in the last twelve months netting reportedly in excess of €400k.

St. Patrick’s Athletic

In: Tommy Lonergan (UCD), Jake Mulraney (Orlando City), Valdislav Kreida (Flora Tallinn), Noah Lewis (Willem II), Conor Carty (Bolton – Loan), Jay McGrath (Coventry City – Loan)

Out: Ian Bermingham (Retired), Adam O’Reilly (Preston North End end of loan), Barry Cotter (Shamrock Rovers – end of loan) Kyle Robinson (Shelbourne), Tunde Owolabi (Cork City). Paddy Barrett (Shelbourne), Ben Curtis (Drogheda United), Ross Fay (Longford Town), Cian Kelly (Malaga Academy), Billy King (Northern Colorado Hailstorm), Ronan Coughlan (Waterford FC)

PFAI Transfer Listed:

Re-signed: Harry Brockbank, Danny Rogers, Serge Atakayi, Mark Doyle, Tom Grivosti, Sam Curtis, Eoin Doyle, Anto Breslin, Ben McCormack, Jason McClelland (2024), Thijs Timmermans,(2024), Chris Forrester (2024), Joe Redmond (2024), Jamie Lennon (2024), David Odumosu, Adam Murphy, Darius Lipsiuc

Rumours: While most of their key players are under contract for next season, Sam Curtis and Joe Redmond in particular have attracted suitors from across Europe. Derry’s FAI Cup victory has granted 4th place St. Pat’s an European footballing lifeline next season as they return to the Conference League for the second consecutive season. This should allow Tim Clancy to retain most of the existing squad and a healthy carrot to tempt any targets to Richmond Park.

UCD AFC

In: Brendan Barr (Derry City), Adam Wells, Mikey Raggett (Shamrock Rovers), Danu Kinsella-Bishop (UCD – LSL), Sami Clarke (Athlone Town), Daniel Babb, Sam Healy, Jake Doyle, Divine Izekor (College)

Out: Evan Caffrey (Shelbourne), Tommy Lonergan (St. Patricks Athletic), Colm Whelan (Derry City), Sean Brennan (Drogheda United), Dylan Duffy (Lincoln City),

PFAI Transfer Listed: Oliwier Oleksiewicz

Rumours: Dylan Duffy is a target for League One side Lincoln City, while Sam Todd is on the radar of Bohs, but that might not happen until next summer if a deal is arranged.

Their player development structure will always ensure a fresh batch of talent coming into the squad each summer as they say goodbye to their graduating class. Once again survival in the Premier Division will be seen as a resounding success for Andy Myler and the Students.
