‘The Peas’ are one of the original six clubs which formed the Women’s National League in 2011-12; winning the inaugural title; and aiming for a three-in-a-row this season, which would bring their title haul to four.
James O’Callaghan’s troops also bagged FAI Women’s Cup silverware last year for just the second time, with a first success in a decade. That side, who also annexed two Dublin titles that year included future Olympic Gold medallist and Irish International soccer player Katie Taylor.
They have also represented the Republic of Ireland in Europe and in 2011–12 they became the first Republic of Ireland side, including men’s teams, to qualify from their group for the knockout stages of a European competition.
Emulating what may well be the title race after this fixture, Peamount put this one to bed early with five stunning goals from the boots of five different players in a game where Shels looking promising but never hit top gear.(more…)
