Peamount punish helpless Treaty side in Limerick
Peamount United got back to winning ways in the WNL with a 7-0 victory over Treaty United at the Markets Field this evening.
A first-half brace from Tara O'Hanlon and goals from Alannah McEvoy and Roche saw the visitors lead 4-0 at the break.
Roche got her second with a fantastic free shortly after the restart while Erin McLaughlin scored Peamount's sixth just after the hour mark.
Roche added her third on 92 minutes as Treaty fell to another heavy defeat.
Peamount asserted themselves on the game early on and gave their opponents very little time with the ball.
The little possession that Treaty were able to enjoy was given away through slack passing on several occasions, allowing the visitors to pounce and attack.
It wasn't long before serious pressure was mounted on the Treaty goal area as the Peas came forward again and again.
The deadlock was broken just before the ten-minute mark when Tiegan Ruddy played in the overlapping Tara O'Hanlon from the left and the fullback shot past Michaela Mitchell, who got her fingertips to the ball but could not prevent it from crossing the goal line.
Treaty had their best chance of the game soon after when they nearly forced a mistake from Peamount netminder Summer Lawless, but the debutant did well to clear her lines.
The pressure was near constant from Peas from that point on and to their credit, Treaty did well to keep the Dublin side out, with Mitchell making a number of good saves.
The Mid-Westerners could only halt the onslaught for so long, however, and conceded a second goal on 32 minutes.
Dearbhaile Beirne cut in from the left and got a shot away only to be blocked by Mitchell. Alannah McEvoy was there for the follow up, however, and Peamount went two goals up.
The floodgates opened after that, with more Peamount pressure resulting in Tara O'Hanlon being brought down in the box to earn a penalty which Stephanie Roche converted.
Moments later O'Hanlon had her second of the game when she volleyed in from close range as half-time loomed.
The visitors were again dominant in the second half, and Stephanie Roche opened the scoring in the 56th minute after curling a free kick around the opposition wall and into the left corner.
Erin McLaughlin would make it 6-0 soon after as Treaty could do very little to hold off the relentless Peas.
Roche would complete her hat-trick in the 92nd minute to earn Peamount their first win since before the summer break.
