Match Report

Bohs Strikes Late To Earn A Point in Derby

Goals from Jack Moylan and Ali Coote give Bohemians and Shelbourne a tense 1-1 draw in a spiky encounter at Dalymount Park this evening.

Moylan netted against his old team with a beautiful solo effort in the first half but a 74th minute stunner from Coote levelled the game and shared the spoils between the two sides.

Neither side move up the table, but after their big win this evening, Dundalk are now just three points behind Bohemians with the same amount of games played.

The opening exchanges saw little in the way of clear cut chances but there were a few dicey moments for James Talbot as he was forced to slide tackle in his own box after an under hit back pass by Kristian Nowak.

JJ Lunney stung the palms of Talbot on the quarter hour mark with the Bohemians keeper springing across to two strong hands to the Shelbourne midfielders long-range effort

Bohemians had a great chance to open the scoring when Afolabi flicked a tidy pass around the corner for McManus to the right of the Shelbourne box. The teenager crossed for Danny Grant who got up time but fresh aired the header.

Shelbourne would go right down the other end and score after this big chance, and it was always going to be the former Bohemians man – Jack Moylan – who would make the difference.

After playing the ball around the back, Hull loanee Harry Wood spun and lifted a ball over the top towards Moylan. The man bound for Lincoln, with his trademark languid style, ghosted between two defenders before finding the bottom corner, giving Shelbourne a vital leading goal.

Moylan was running the show in the first half and when the ball was in play, Shelbourne’s number 10 was causing Bohemians’ Polish centre backs all sorts of issues.

Shelbourne were able to let the seconds tick by on the game clock with a series of injuries in the first half causing several of stoppages as the first half drew to a close.

Bohemians made a change at half time, bringing Bart Kukulowicz on for Adam McDonnell and it made an instant impact as captain Keith Buckley was able to keep ball moving more fluidly in the midfield as well as allowing Jordan Flores to get further up the pitch.

And the Bohemians full back thought he had brought his side back level when he diverted the ball home after Afolabi competed with Kearns after a long ball, but the referee adjudged the Gypsies striker to have fouled the Shelbourne keeper so the goal was ruled out.

Shortly after an interruption cause by Kearns tying his laces, Bohemians were level thanks to a beautiful strike form Ali Coote. The Scottish attacker received the ball from an Afolabi layoff, and when he saw he had the room to get a shot away, he didn’t hesitate in smashing the ball past Kearns at his near post.

After long range efforts for both sides through Will Jarvis and James Clarke, the home side played all of the football. But Declan Devine’s men were unable to overcome Damien Duff’s white wall as the side share the points.
