Treaty United and Kerry FC played out a hugely entertaining scoreless draw at the Markets Field this evening.

Kerry FC now move to eight unbeaten in all competitions, with seven of those coming in the league, whilst Treaty United are still in search of three points, their last coming just three games into the current campaign. 

Both sides had chances throughout the game, with Treaty goalkeeper Corey Chambers proving to be huge for his side on a number of occasions, the best a double save with just over ten minutes to play. 

The Kerry coaches will probably be the more disappointed of the two not to come away with victory tonight, which is a huge testament to the progress they have made this season. 

Kerry FC return home to host Athlone Town next Friday night whilst Treaty United make the journey to the South East to face Bray Wanderers.

The kick-off to tonight’s fixture at the Markets Field along with all LOI games across the country tonight were delayed by five minutes as all match officials held a protest over a pay dispute. 

It took less than a minute for the first major chance of the game, Treaty United broke down the left-hand side through Fionn Doherty who delivered a cross right onto the money for Mark Byrne who directed it towards the top corner but was very unlucky to see his effort come back off the woodwork. 

The game was played in a frantic fashion to start with, Treaty fans with three shouts for a penalty inside in the opening five minutes whilst Ryan Kelliher forced a huge block from Devitt at the back to prevent an effort on the goal of Chambers.

After an action-packed opening few minutes the pace of the game died out very quickly, Teahan coming closest to finding an opener for Kerry after half an hour but his near post effort sailed past the post. 

The home side began to find some life before the break, but three different efforts by Byrne, O’Connor and Christopher failed to trouble Antonio Tuta. 

Both sides had chances to take the lead early in the second half, Treaty coming close from a deflected effort off a lofted free kick that went just past the post, whilst Kerry went up the pitch and Healy forced Chambers into a save for the first time in the tie down to his right. The home side followed up Chambers' save with a big chance through Devitt who made Tuta produce his biggest save so far from close range.

The frantic action continued as Kerry had a huge opportunity on the break through Sean O’Connell to take the lead after he received the ball towards the back post, the Kerry full-back looked destined to find the bottom corner but not for Chambers sticking out his left leg to deny him. 

Kerry FC had their best chance of the game on the hour mark when Kelliher slid the ball in for Ronan Teahan who looked destined to score but somehow did not get his effort on target, smashing off the top right corner of the goalpost to his disbelief. 

By the time the three-quarter mark rolled around, Treaty had used all five subs, Lynch, Costelloe, Byrne, Considine and Armshaw all introduced by Tommy Barrett. 

It was not until there were twenty minutes left on the clock when Conor McCarthy turned to his bench, and it was a big chance as his side switched to a back four, taking off centre half Kos for Cian Brosnan who went straight out to right-wing in a front three. 

Kerry had yet another huge chance with just over ten minutes to go to take the lead but for a superb double save from Chambers. Graham O’Reilly slid in Cian Brosnan on the break from a United corner and his low shot was parried by the Treaty keeper to Okwute but he was denied on the follow-up to the delight of the home support. 

Moments later Brosnan had yet another massive opportunity after a back pass that was left short, the Kerry attacker could only get a toe on the ball and was once again denied by Chambers who was heading towards a man-of-the-match performance.

Conor McCarthy used his last roll of the dice to introduce Victor Udeze for Ryan Kelliher with four minutes on the clock, but despite the late change, there were no more chances to steal a winner for either side, with Kerry moving to seven unbeaten in the league.
