Shels Take Dublin Derby Bragging Rights
First half goals from Noelle Murray, Christie Gray and Kerri Letmon saw Shelbourne secure an easy win over Bohemians in their final home game of the season.
Murray opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Gray doubled her side’s advantage in the 35th minute. Letmon grabbed Shels’ third goal five minutes before the break.
It was all too easy for Shelbourne and they could’ve scored more against a Bohs side that rarely threatened throughout.
Shels were dominant in the opening half. Bohs offered very little and never troubled the home side’s defence. In the fourth minute Taylor White’s shot was just wide while minutes later Gray’s effort was just over the bar.
The deadlock was broken in the ninth minute. Alex Kavanagh played her free short to Murray who spotted Meadbh Ryan off her line and she made no mistake with a terrific strike.
In the 28th minute Shels were awarded a free which Murray took but the Bohs netminder pulled off a great save to deny her a second goal.
Gray doubled her side’s advantage in the 35th minute with an excellent finish and five minutes later Murray played the ball through to Kerri Letmon and she made no mistake.
Bohs were awarded a free just after the break. Mia Dodd took the shot but it was poor and Shels keeper Amanda McQuillan could easily gather. In the 53rd minute Rachel Graham hit a shot but it sailed over the bar.
Substitute Jemma Quinn was denied by Ciara Maher in the 77th minute when the midfielder put in a well-timed tackle on Quinn who had goal on her mind.
Down the other end Rachel McGrath created a chance but brought a fine save out of the Shels netminder.
With his side very much in control Shels manager Noel King was able to take off Murray, Gray and Taylor White.
Shels were in control of the second half but failed to add to the three goals they scored in the opening half. In the 90th minute Kavanagh took a shot but it was well held by Ryan.
