Kervick winner ten from time beats Treaty

Kervick Goal on 80 minutes gives Cobh all three points at Markets Field as Treaty waste precious few opportunities.

A slow beginning to the game saw neither side really take hold of possession until a Charlie Lyons strike from distance forced a save from Hallahan in the Treaty net. This strike seemed to spur on the visitors, especially Wilson Waweru whose pace and trickery caused the home side defence all sorts of problems, with Hallahan being called into action time and time again.  

The entry into the game of Enda Curren in place of the injured Conor Barry gave Treaty a new lease of life, his hold up plays and passing of the ball turned the game on its head and forced the Cobh defence to wake up.  

The best chance of the half fell to Treatys Martin Coughlan, who latched onto a rebound after a Lee Stacey save, Coughlans shot, from the middle of the box close to the penalty spot, landed closer to the corner flag than the goal. One to forget for the Abbeyfeale native. 

The second half was much the same as both sides wasted opportunity after opportunity with Sarren Nwanknu coming close on a number of occasions from set plays for the hosts whilst Waweru and Jason Abbott threatened for Ramblers. 

The only goal came in the 80th minutes when Kervick latched onto a long looping ball, the 20-year-old winger on loan from Waterford turned Stephen Christopher inside and out before smashing the ball into Hallahans net. 

The game livened up as both sides struck the crossbar within a minute of each other before the referee blew full time, leaving Treaty without a win in 5 games. 

Next up for Treaty is a trip to Athlone Town after the break while Cobh host Waterford. Both games kick off at 18:45 on friday 13rd of June.
