Match Report
High tempo draw at Colman’s Park
Cobh Ramblers and Treaty United played out a high tempo scoreless draw in St. Colman's Park tonight.
Treaty United looked crisp with passing on the deck, but faded in and out of the game for long spells.
They worked the wings and tested the Cobh penalty area with probing crosses. Joel Coustrain looked dangerous on the wing, while Stephen Christopher and Lee Devitt had chances in the first half.
Andy O'Donoghue, Cobh's keeper in for the injured Sean Barron, was confident throughout the night.
The story of the first half was matched by the tale of the second half.
Beineoin O'Brien Whitmarsh, Jack Larkin and Danny O'Connell again looked exciting in attack.
Cobh's best chance of the night fell to John Kavanagh and Nathan O'Connell who forced Treaty's Jack Brady into an outstanding series of saves.
Lee Devitt had the more eye catching of the away side's effort in the first half, his left leg strike flew just outside the post, while at the death Callum McNamara was denied by a last ditch block by O'Donoghue.
Harlain Mbayo, Cobh's new signing and debutante, was assured and strong throughout the game as he inspired the Ramblers defence to tame the Treaty United attack. Game of few chances but still strong entertainment value in this Munster Derby.
