Match Report

Curran Pen helps Treaty to points in Bray

Treaty United made it back-to-back wins as they capped off the Bank Holiday with a fine performance and three points in the Carlisle Grounds this evening.

Enda Curran got the opening goal from the spot with twenty minutes on the clock in a game with double-digit cards as every tackle seemed to be worthy of a booking.

Willie Armshaw made sure of the points just before the end of regulation time as he found himself in at the back post with all the time to put it past Moody. Armshaw picked up a brace in the 94th minute with Bray at sixes and sevens with Cole Omorehiomwan sent off moments before for a second yellow.

Bray now regroup to face Wexford in Ferrycarrig on Friday night with Treaty United hosting Athlone on Shannonside.

The first real chance of the fixture came from Conor Barry of Treaty just before the 15-minute mark. Barry forced Alex Moody into a big save after some great play by Treaty in the final third to open up the Bray back line.

The away side the longer this game would go on in this fashion would become increasingly more confident of getting a result that not many expected them to get coming into today. Bray, who had a few moments of quality with their passing, were struggling to produce anything of note as their opponents were set up well.

Bray got their first big effort on target just after the 20-minute mark, Almirall caught a volley sweetly at the edge of the box from a corner clearance and that effort off his right was dipping into the bottom right corner but Hallahan rather unorthodoxly kept out the effort with his feet.

Just after the half-hour mark, Treaty United were forced into an early change as Darren Collins was withdrawn with an injury for Dean George.

Massey picked up the fourth yellow card of the game just before the break. This wasn’t a feisty game by any means but Massey, Groome, Power for Bray, and O’Riordan for Treaty were all booked for cynical tackles.

Both teams went in scoreless at the break with the home side happy to get in level. Treaty United came into the game as it went on in what was a clinical first-half away-from-home performance.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first - Almirall with a crunching tackle that saw him added to the long list of names now in the referee’s book.

Feeney, Craven, and Fitzgerald were all introduced to the game by Ian Ryan within the opening ten minutes of the half as his side looked to gain control of this game.

Success Edogun became the latest player to suffer from this Friday/Monday turnover as he was withdrawn with an injury with Armshaw taking his place. Treaty only named six subs today with two injuries enforcing changes already.

The major turning point in the game came with just over twenty minutes to go when the away side won a penalty. Enda Curran stepped up and smashed down the middle to give the away side a deserved lead.

Following the goal in the celebrations Moody seemed to have the ball hit away as he tried to retrieve which ended up in a scuffle. Four yellow cards came out of this, and with Fitzgerald booked for Bray moments later we were up to eleven flashes of yellow.

Bray did have a chance through Davis to get back into it late on but Hallahan stood up to it well in the away net as Treaty did everything in their power and the dark arts to see this game out.

Sub Willie Armshaw made it 2-0 for the away side with seconds to go in regulation time. A fantastic lofted through ball found Armshaw in at the back post and he had a bit to do but put it past Moody to wrap up the points and relieve the pressure.

Cole Omorehiomwan picked up a second yellow in added time for a tackle on a Treaty player to cap off what was really a miserable home outing for the home side, only to be made worse moments later when Willie Armshaw added a third in the 94th minute coming in on goal all alone after a Groome mistake with Armshaw slotting the ball into the bottom right corner with ease to cap off a brilliant day for Treaty.
