Curran boosts Treaty play-off hopes in Bray

Enda Curran bagged a brace to see Treat United record a second win in a row, overcoming Bray at the Carlisle Grounds this evening.

Goals in either half from the prolific forward, see’s him up to ten goals for the season, he was enjoying the occasion on the sun-kissed surface in Bray.

Treaty now leapfrog Wexford in the table, taking up the last spot in the promotion battle, at least until we have action next week, Wexford not in action this weekend.

A helter-skelter opening few minutes saw both teams fail to threaten early, but after 9 minutes Enda Curran was brought down in the area, no objections as the referee pointed to the spot, the forward bringing goals all season adding to his tally after sending the keeper the other way.

The seagulls started to test Jack Brady at the 15th-minute mark, Darragh Lynch with two efforts straight at the stopper, Callum Thompson the next to have a shot at Brady, the rebound failed to trouble anyone as Bray fluffed any chance to hit Treaty where it hurt.

Kurits Byrne was next to have a crack for Bray, he skipped between two defenders and lobed the out-rushing Brady, but the effort went just wide of the goal, a half of very few chances for both teams, Treaty deserving their 1-0 lead at the interval.

Bray had the first chance early in the half Kevin Knight sent a cross from the left, that Lynch steered a header narrowly wide, the Shannonsiders had very few opportunities in the opening half, but six minutes into the second they took their chance and doubled the lead, Marc Ludden with a deep pinpoint cross to the back post was met by Curran, he struck a volley which hit the surface, bouncing up and looping over Michael Kelly into the Bray goal.

In truth it was a comfortable second half for Treaty, Bray having plenty of half chances, but poor passing and an inability to hit the mark, gave Tommy Barret's men a comfortable away trip to the seaside, Success Edogun has made the move for Limerick and made a brief cameo late on, while Joe Gorman against his old club, saw red five minutes from time for some backchat to the referee as he was to be shown a yellow.
