Treaty Confirmed after Bray Storm Session

The drastic weather conditions spoiled the welcome party for Treaty United as they played out a goalless draw with hosts Bray Wanderers despite being reduced to ten men in the only League of Ireland game played on Sunday.

None of that will matter to Tommy Barrett or anyone involved with the new Limerick based entity as they secured the first league points in the club's history in a game between two sides fancied to be battling at opposite ends of the table.

The strong wind in the coastal town was a hard challenge for both teams as they struggled to create more than half-opportunities inside the first thirty minutes. Bray opened stronger enjoying a larger share of ball possession and threatening down the flanks to break Treaty’s defensive line as the visitors couldn’t do much more than hoofing the ball into the strong wind.

The best opportunities during the first-half came five minutes before the break as a couple of goods plays from Bray inside the Treaty’s penalty area but Darren Craven was caught in an offside position on both occasions.

It wasn't much different in the second period as Bray started the have brightly, pressing high on the Treaty defence. The wind and the rain did subside eventually and Gary Cronin’s team took the chance to pin Treaty United back in their own half.

A long shot from Brandon Kavanagh and Mark Bryne’s great cross punched away by Tadhg Ryan were signs of Bray taking control of the game but the biggest chance fell to Ryan Graydon as he failed to score when it seemed easier to find the back of the net.

Treaty’s mission got even harder with 65 minutes on the watch as they were reduced to ten men, Sean McSweeney collected his second booking off for a late tackle. Two minutes later and Tadhg Ryan came to Treaty's rescue coming off his line to stop a through ball looking for Craven.

Inside the last 10 minutes, Ryan Graydon had another chance this time from inside the six-yard box as he couldn't meet the incoming cross.

The final whistle confirmed the points would be split after a clash where Treaty produced a workman like performance and Bray just were unable to pick them apart and gather the three points.
