Match Report
A Conor Knight goal was the difference between Athlone and Bray as they away side won for the second time in a row for the first time since May. The young wingers goal in the first half was enough for the Seagulls, with both sides hitting the crossbar and a plethora of chances a peace in an entertaining encounter. Athlone had been threatening throughout the opening twenty minutes, hitting the crossbar early on through a Gavin header, with Campion-Hinds also causing havoc down the right, but it was Bray who took the lead in the 24th minute. Some lovely link-up by Callum Thompson and Harry Groome allowed the later to reach the by-line and cross. It evaded everyone at the near post and found its way to Conor Knight who poked the ball home, his second goal in as many games for the Seagulls. The second half was frenetic at times, with plenty of chances for both sides. Frantz Pierrot had a huge one only five minutes into the half. Somehow managed to volley over a flick-on when it looked easier to score. Less than minutes later and another unbelievable chance went untaken by the home side. A low cross was back-heeled towards goal by Van Geenen but a heroic block by Jack Hudson saw it go out for a corner. Bray had big misses themselves, Darren Craven with arguably the worst as he put an effort well over the bar from just outside the near post. A header by substitute Conor Crowley also came crashing back off the crossbar. Lyons had two late chances for the away side but, even with the injury time pressure from Athlone, The Seagulls managed to hold on and keep their slim play-off chances alive as they travel to Longford next week, while Athlone travel up to Finn Harps.Knight The Difference As Bray Overcome Athlone

Full time and that is a big win for Bray, perhaps little too late in the season. They deny Athlone guaranteeing their play-off spot tonight and keep their slim chance of getting it themselves alive. Thanks for joining me this evening.
A lovely ball through to Pierrot just evades the number 9, massive chance as four minutes is added on.
Double Bray change, Webster and Chuwku on for Lyons and Thompson.
A flash effort from Lyons is tipped over by Minogue.
Another Athlone change, Baker on for Duffy.
Massive save from Minogue as Bray counter, Thompson breaks away and squares to Lyons. The Bray striker curls an effort to which the Athlone shot stopper is equal. From the corner, sub Conor Crowley flicks a header onto the bar. Big chances for Bray.
Double Bray change follows, O'Sullivan and Crowley on for Knight and Craven respectively.
Double change for Athlone, Dolia and McGlone on for Gavin and Connolly.
Big chance for Bray to double there lead as a ball flashes across goal, Craven meets it but it goes well over the bar.
Van Geenen booked for hacking down the on-rushing Murphy.
A huge save from Connor after Pierrot is played in behind through a fantastic pass from Hickey. Bray hanging on a bit here. Murphy booked for dissent just after too.
How have Athlone not scored?! A low cross by Campion-Hinds is backhealed towards goal by Van Geenen.. A spectacular block by Hudson sees it loop up and out for a corner.
Massive chance for Pierrot as a flick on from that corner finds the striker, who somehow volleys over from about five yards out.
Another massive scramble in the Bray box sees a Gavin strike deflected out for a corner.
Second half kicks off in Athlone.
Half-time and it is Bray edging it here through a Conor Knight goal. Athlone with much to do in the second half.
A minute of additional time here.
Bray still slightly edging it as we approach half-time with Murphy curling a shot over for the away side just now.
Pierrot gets in behind the Bray backline but is marshalled well by Omorehiomwan and sees his shot dragged wide.
First booking for Athlone as Kavanagh catches Knight late.
Bray take the lead! A lovely team goal as Thompson plays the ball into Groome. The Bray number 8 gets to the by-line and crosses, there to meet it is Conor Knight who has his second goal in as many games. 1-0 to the away side!
First yellow of the game goes to Massey as he drags down Campion-Hinds, who has looked lively so far.
Game has opened up as Bray have gotten more of the ball now.
A header from Gavin from an Athlone free kick comes crashing back off the bar and a scramble ensues but Bray eventually manage to clear their lines. Good start from the home side.
Underway here.
Teams on their way out here at Liswollen, kick-off next.
Good evening and welcome to this game between Athlone and Bray. A few changes for the home side with Frantz Pierrot back in the starting eleven after missing last week. Only one change for Bray as Massey comes in for O'Sullivan.
