First half goals from Maher and Prior gave Bohs the points at home despite a late fightback from Cork. Sena did score from a free kick in added time but Bohs remain in the hunt for the title as we head into the break.

Bohemians came into this one favourites and it wasn’t long before they lived up to that pre match tag. Sarah Rowe’s cross from the right was on course for the penalty spot before Mendez tried to clear it but her sliced kick fell to Niamh Prior who had time and space to slot home for her second goal of the season.

Mia Dodd almost made it two just after the half hour mark, but McCarthy in the Cork net did extremely well to stretch to her left and get a hand on the effort and push it around the post.

Rachel Doyle also came close, the midfielder’s diving header again met by McCarthy who has been doing wonders for her team in net so far.

Ciara Maher made it two just before the break. Maher pounced on a rebound from McCarthy who was unfortunate not to clear her lines but Bohs were pushing as this was her fourth save in a matter of minutes. Maher was left with an easy task of placing the ball into the left corner with the keeper out of position and Bohemians were in cruise control going into the break.

Cork City have struggled to find the net this season and would need to almost double their goal total for the season to get back into this in the second half but it was the home side who pushed on and McCarthy again, making important saves to keep the game alive.

Aoife Robinson the second half substitute had the best chance of the second half but her effort came back off the bar with Cork clearing to their relief. 

Cork did have a flurry of corners in the final ten minutes of the game but failed to get a meaningful chance off of them.

There was a nice moment for the hosts before the end when Anna Hegarty came on to make her debut with a few minutes to go.

Cork did get one back to their credit through a direct free kick from Kiera Sena. Sena placed the ball and stepped up to smash around the wall to the keepers side finding its way past Kelly.

Bohemians held out despite the late Cork push and remain in the hunt, sitting in fourth in the Women’s Premier Division.
