Two Minutes of Magic See Bohemians Defeat Cork

A two-minute salvo in the second half saw Bohemians defeat Cork City 3-1 in an entertaining clash at Dalymount Park.

The game was slow to catch fire as both sides were reliant on set pieces to create opportunities in the opening 20 minutes.

Despite Bohs’ being the better side, it was Cork who took the lead after 25 minutes through Aoibhínn Donnelly with her strike coming against the run of play.
Abbie Brophy nearly equalised minutes later but was denied at the near post by Abbie McCarthy in what was an impressive half from the Cork goalkeeper.

City lost Orla Deasy through injury after 35 minutes as Bohs’ continued to search for a leveller.
That elusive goal nearly came through Brophy who was inches away from equalising in the 39th minute with her shot going inches wide of the posts.

Despite being second best for much of the first half, Eva Mangan nearly doubled City’s lead on the stroke of half-time with a long-range effort which went just over the crossbar.

City were inches away again from scoring at the beginning of the second half as Laura Shine’s long-range shot flew just wide of the goal.

Bohs’ began to dominate possession once more but had to wait until the 64th minute for a meaningful chance when Lisa Murphy’s header went wide.

City were living off scraps at this stage but still nearly scored in the 70th minute when Nadine Seward hit the bar.

It looked like it was to be City’s day but everything changed in the last 15 minutes when Bohs’ hit two goals in as many minutes.

Aoife Robinson was the first player to get on the scoresheet when she got on the end of Rachel Doyle’s cross in the 75h minute.

Niamh Prior made it 2-1 two minutes later when she slotted home at the second time of asking after Erika Burke was denied.

Robinson sealed the game with a header two minutes from time as Bohemians ran out deserved 3-1 winners.
