Match Report
Daniel Krezic shut Bohs fans up with a stunning reaction to what was surely Bohs equaliser to see both teams end with a point a piece. The North Macedonian scored the winner within a minute of Adam McDonnells equaliser which saw a rapturous roar from the bohs faithful with some away fans making their way onto the pitch to celebrate. Matt Healy opened the scoring with with a stunning volley from outside the box on 73. A pretty tame first half as neither side really deserved to go in front. Early chances from Kris Twardek and Coote would have suggested the Dublin side would have an easy night but neither really forced Jimmy Corcoran to worry. Cork slowly grew into the game with a couple of chance of their own, firstly Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh’s shot loops over the bar before John O’Donovans volley forces Talbot into a reaction save. The biggest chance of the half fell to Tunde Owolabi as he broke through the Bohs defence only to shoot over the bar from close range. Bohemians started the second half brightly with a sustained spell of possessionin the first 10 – 15 minutes, however they were unable to take advantage and never really threatened the goal in front of their loud travelling fans. The leesiders grew into the game and with 20 minutes to play looked the better side. On 73 minutes Matt Healy latched onto a ball just outside the box and volleyed past Talbot in the Gypsies goal. City were the in search of a second when McDonnell put the away side on level terms as the referee allowed advantage for what was a certain penalty and possible red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity. With the large contingent of travelling Bohs supporters still celebrating some whom made their way onto the pitch to goad city fans, Danial Krezic was having none of it. The substitute silencing the cheers of joy with an even bigger roar from the home support of around 2500 with his 88th minute winner. Bohs pushed on for another but it wasn’t to be as City have now won 4 in a row. Next up for Cork is a home game against Dundalk while Bohs Travel north to Derry City in an important tie for the European places.
