Match Report

Dodd wondergoal helps Bohs to win on Leeside

Cork fell to their third defeat in a row as they were defeated by Bohemians at Turners Cross this evening.

Bohs took a deserved lead in the 13th minute through Mia Dodd. City started the second half brightly and drew level in the 51st minute through Christina Dring. Bohs restored their lead in the 60th minute through Lisa Murphy and nine minutes later they grabbed a third goal through captain Erica Burke.

Bohs dominated the opening half. In the third minute Burke hit the post with her effort. Kira Bates Crosbie won a free-kick in a dangerous position in the 13th minute. Rachel Doyle played it short to Dodd who found the back of the net with a superb strike from a tight angle.

Sarah Rowe hit a long range effort but it was right at City keeper  Hannah Walsh in the 20th minute. Burke spotted Walsh off her line in the 37th minute and took a shot but it sailed over the bar.

City had a few half chances in the first half but nothing to trouble Rachael Kelly in the Bohs goals. Eva Mangan put a fine ball into Christina Dring in the 42nd minute but she just couldn’t get a proper connection on it.

The home side started the second half very well. Laura Shine did well to win a corner. Mangan floated the ball in and it was finished to the net by Dring.

Bohs were back in front nine minutes later when Murphy headed home Katie Burdis’ corner. Rachel Doyle hit the post in the 67th minute with a well struck free from about 30 yards out.

Two minutes later the visitors got a third goal; Burke spotted Walsh out of her goal, she rounded the keeper before shooting to the net. She could’ve got a second in the 77th minute but her effort was poor.

Down the other end Bohs netminder Kelly had to be alert to come for the ball ahead of City sub Fiana Bradley. City still have yet to pick up a point at home this season.
