Match Report
Wilson and Kelly power Bohs win in Longford
Bohs responded to an early scare in ruthless fashion, defeating Longford Town 4-1 in Bishopsgate tonight.
Dean Williams gave the hosts a shock lead a few minutes before half time, but Bohs responded well thanks to a Georgie Kelly brace, a fine Tyreke Wilson free kick and a late tap in from substitute Jamie Mullins.
Up until the half hour mark, not many chances came for either side. Bohs started slow but Longford weren’t taking advantage.
Then the chances started to come in droves. A double chance in the 31st minute occurred when a Williams effort was blocked and fell to Dylan Grimes, who was denied at point blank range by James Talbot. Two minutes later Darragh Nugent had an effort trickle across the face of goal. It was clear Bohs were asleep and they didn’t heed the warning.
Williams gave Longford their deserved lead in the 37th minute after he met a cross that Talbot initially saved, but came back out and ricocheted off him before going in. It was a strange goal, but one Longford deserved.
Bohs for the rest of the half pushed and nearly scored numerous times from set pieces. They carried this energy into the second half.
Right from the kickoff, they went at Longford and were rewarded almost instantly. Georgie Kelly went charging at the Longford net and was brought down and rightly given a penalty. He made no mistake from the spot, tying this one up.
Just under ten minutes later the visitors got the lead. Longford conceded a free kick out right around 25 yards from goal. Tyreke Wilson stepped up and curled a peach into the top corner. This has clearly become a specialty for the underage international.
Keith Long’s side controlled possession the rest of the way and another two in the last fifteen. In the 79th minute, Dawson Devoy set up some lovely one touch football which resulted in Kelly slotting away his second, making it two the leagues’ top scorer can add to his tally tonight.
The cherry on top was added with two minutes of regulation to play. A low cross found substitute Jamie Mullins, who had come on for an injured Liam Burt right before Williams’ opener. After one touch, Mullins slotted home, becoming all she wrote for this one.
The win means Bohs can head home in high spirits, only a point off Derry City in fourth with a game in hand.

Now Nugent has a chance that trickles across the face of goal. Longford have now emerged surprisingly as the dominant side.
Great build up play from Longford. First Williams has a blocked chance, but it falls to Grimes whom Talbot saves an effort from at point blank range. Best chance for either side so far.
Feely floats in a cross that heads out. Tempo has been very slow these last few minutes.
Byrne is bursting through but Rory Feely recovers well to snuff out the chance.
Kelly nods it in from a free but the flag is up.
Ten minutes in. The hosts have started well. Bohs only getting into it in the last few minutes.
Williams fires a free at goal but it seemed to go well wide.
Feely fouls Dervin after losing his footing. Referee leaves him out of the book however.
Dervin with some dangerous play down the right for hosts early. Nothing came of the burst forward however.
Bohs get us underway.
Longford U19 star Ben Lynch makes his debut for the hosts.
Both teams are now in.
Bohs boss Keith Long, via the clubs website: "We are looking to bounce back after a couple of disappointing results and even though we have a number of players struggling with injuries, we hope that whatever team is selected can produce the performance required to get the right result"
A win for Bohs would leave them a point off Derry with a game in hand, putting them in pole position to retake fourth spot.
