Match Report

16-year-old Mullins brilliant in Bohs draw

16-year-old Jamie Mullins scored his first League of Ireland goal, as Bohemians came from behind to get a point against Longford at Dalymount Park this afternoon.

De Town opened the scoring through Rob Manley as the forward dived to meet a Shane Elworthy cross.

After three half-time changes, and a slump from the visitors, Keith Buckley played in Mullins, who drove forward and slammed the ball past the keeper.

The home side started the brighter of the two. Chances came and went from set-pieces, as Conor Levingston headed over and James Finnerty failed to hit the target.

Lee Steacy (the standout performer for Longford) had to remain vigilant in the opening 45 minutes. His desperation save prevented Levingston from opening the scoring, after Rory Feely hit the bar.

With opportunities wasted, it was time for Daire Doyle’s men to be clinical. A lovely passing move took the visitors from back to front, and Shane Elworthy curled a cross to the near post. Manley got in front of his marker, and left the ‘keeper helpless with a powerful header.

Going in at half-time a goal down, Keith Long needed to change things. He made three substitutions, which made an instant impact.

One of said substitutes, Buckley, controlled the ball in the middle of the park, looked up and played a pass into the feet of Mullins. The youngster looked like a seasoned pro as he darted inside from the left before taking aim at Steacy’s goal. The stopper got a hand to it, but that wasn’t enough to prevent the equalizer.

Bohs had several more chances to go ahead, the most notable falling to Georgie Kelly in the box just before time, but they couldn’t make the breakthrough.

Long was stung for making eight changes to his starting XI, and will be disappointed that his side haven’t been able to close the gap on those above. For Longford and Doyle, this is a positive result, and a sensational performance from Steacy. It could be something to build on.

  • Full Time: Bohemians 1-1 Longford Town

  • 90'

Georgie Kelly should score! Devoy whips in a cross, but Kelly can't get over it and heads over.

  • 90'

Steacy saves Town again. Tierney was bombing through on goal onto a loose ball. The Longford 'keeper was quick off his line to snatch the ball.

  • 90'

    Five added minutes.

  • 87'

Conor Davis is on for Longford.

  • 87'

Rob Manley is off for de Town.

  • 87'

Lee Steacy really has been fantastic, if Longford get a point (or more) they'll have their 'keeper to thank.

  • 85'

Despite Bohs generally dominating the play so far, it seems as if either team could nick a goal and grab all three points here.

  • 83'

Tyreke Wilson has a crack from a free-kick. It sails harmlessly over the bar. Steacy had it covered.

  • 82'

Dean Williams is off for Longford.

  • 82'

Callum Warfield is on for Longford.

  • 78'

Andy Lyons connects brilliantly with a Devoy cut-back. It's Lee Steacy though once again, who dives athletically to get his hands in front of the shot.

  • 75'

It's end to end as Dylan Grimes has a great chance getting in behind the defence. He does well to get a shot away, but Talbot does just enough to see it wide.

  • 74'

Possible shout for a penalty for Bohs. Joe Manley dives to block a cross with his arm up. The ref doesn't move though.

  • 71'

Another water break. Time for managers to talk tactics as well as taking in some water.

  • 67'

Aaron Dobbs is on for Longford.

  • 67'

Aaron McNally is off for Longford.

  • 67'

Tyreke Wilson is on for Bohs.

  • 67'

Keith Ward is off for Bohs.

  • 65'

Almost an instant impact, as Devoy meets a ward pull back. He can't hit the target though.

  • 64'

Dawson Devoy is on for Bohs.

  • 64'

Jamie Mullins is off for Bohs.

  • 61'

Joseph Manley picks up a yellow card.

  • 57'

It's been dreadful start to the half for Longford, they've shown absolutely no fight and have let the home side walk all over them.

  • 55'

Goal Bohs! Jamie Mullins scores on his full debut! Buckley drove forward in midfield, played in the 16-year-old, and he dribbled into space before powering the ball home.

  • 52'

Kelly and Levingston link up in the final third. This play results in a half chance for Kelly, but he can't get a good connection.

  • 49'

Georgie Kelly makes his presence felt already, he won a free-kick. Then followed it up by nearly connecting with said free-kick.

  • 46'

And the game is back underway!

  • 46'

Bastien Hery, James Finnerty and Robert Mahon are off for Bohs at Half-time.

  • 46'

Keith Buckley, Georgie Kelly and Andy Lyons are on for Bohs at Half-time.

  • Bohs desperately need Georgie Kelly on the pitch. They need someone to finish off one of the many chances they've been getting. For Longford, it'll be hang in there, and maybe snatch another goal, though they've found holding leads difficult so far this season.

  • Half time: Bohemians 0-1 Longford Town

  • 45'

James Finnerty hits the post! Another chance from a Gypsies set piece. Longford are fortunate to be ahead, but Bohs haven\'t made their chances count.

  • 43'

Keith Long is getting subs ready for after half time. He's clearly not happy with how the game is going. The changes haven't lived up to expectations.

  • 41'

Bohs have had the possession and the chances, but Longford were clinical when they needed to be. It was a lovely front-to-back passing move to create the goal.

  • 38'

Goal Longford! Rob Manley dives to meet an Elworthy cross and Longford have an unexpected lead!

  • 36'

Bohs are controlling the ball now. Longford are sitting back, and look content to wait and counter when necessary.

  • 33'

16-year-old Jamie Mullins meets a cross into the box. He directs the effort on target, but it doesn't have the desired power.

  • 31'

Aodh Dervin gives away a foul to stop a Bohs attack. He picks up a yellow card for his trouble.

  • 30'

Aodh Dervin hits a knuckleball free-kick from 25 yards. It rockets towards the top corner, but Talbot excellently palms it away.

  • 28'

Lee Steacy keeps the score at 0-0. What a save from the Longford 'keeper as Feely meets a set-piece, hits the bar, and Levingston follows it up. Steacy makes a desperation save, brilliant stuff.

  • 22'

Water break for both sides. It's absolutely sweltering, so a needed intake of fluids.

  • 21'

Bohs are giving the ball away a lot in the build up. Longford are putting them under plenty of pressure, and the pace of Williams could end up doing some damage.

  • 19'

Dean Williams breaks into the box, Rob Cornwall holds him off, giving a little shove. Williams could have taken a shot, but instead opts to go down. The ref is having none of it.

  • 15'

Aaron McNally lashes a shot just past the post after a free kick. Best chance so far for Longford.

  • 14'

Rory Feely picks up the first yellow card of the match.

  • 12'

Keith Ward's corner is met by Finnerty with another free header. It just bounces off the top of his head though. Town look dreadful at defending set pieces.

  • 9'

It should be 1-0. It's Levingston again. He met a corner unmarked and headed just over. Should do better.

  • 8'

Conor Levingston calls Steacy in the Town net into action with a powerful long-range effort.

  • 5'

Neither side has really got going in the opening five minutes. Longford have had the first chance, Dean Williams whipped a wide free kick towards the back post and it was deflected wide.

  • 3'

Bastien Hery is playing up front for Bohs today, filling the hole left by the rested Georgie Kelly. Hery isn't exactly known for his goalscoring, so it'll be interesting to see how he does.

  • 1'

And we're underway! Bohs get the ball rolling.

  • It's important for Bohs to rest players, especially with more European games to come. However, this could be the perfect chance for de Town to end their winless run up against a weakened home line up.

  • Bohemians team news: Keith Long clearly sees this as an easily winnable game, he has made eight changes to the side that started on Thursday. Hery, Cornwall, Finnerty, Breslin, Levingston, Ward, Mahon and Mullins all come in.

  • Longford team news: there are two changes to the side that drew against Drogheda. Dervin and Rob Manley are in, Zambra and Chambers are out.

  • Hello and welcome to Final Whistle's coverage of Bohemians vs Longford Town. I'm Jon Parkin and I will be covering this afternoon's game.
