Keating Snatches Draw at the Death for City

A last gasp goal from Ruairi Keating helped Cork City grab a 1-1 draw with St.Pats at Richmond Park tonight.

It was a cagey start to proceedings with neither side managing to create much an opening quarter which was filled with indiscipline as three yellow cards were given out in the space of ten minutes.

Pats began to find their footing as the half went on however and had the first real chance of the game throgh Jamie Lennon who forced a great save City's new signing Tiernan Brooks, who is an Under 21 Irish international on loan from Notts County.

Eventually the hosts got their goal in the 39th minute and it was worth the wait. Jake Mulraney did extremely well to cut inside off the left flank before firing a terrific shot from 20 yards out which flew into the top corner and give Pats a deserved 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half started in the same vein as the first as Pats continued to control the game. There was more injury worry for City Brooks went down with a knock and had to be replaced by Jimmy Corcoran while Conor Drinan came on for his debut after signing from Cobh.

It was the former who denied Pats a second goal as Corocran made a great save from Conor Carty after a great move in midfield as City Pats continued to turn the screw.

Despite this, City tried to hang in there and Ruairi Keating almost delivered the eqauliser ten minutes from time when his shot was tipped around the post by Dean Lyness.

It wouldn't be Keating's last action however as a moment of magic at the death saw him level the game with a clinical finish to snatch an unlikely but crucial 1-1 draw for Liam Buckley's side.
