Match Report
Cork City were denied three points by a dogged Drogheda side in a game that never really sparked to life. Proceedings sparked into life in the 17th minute however when Aaron Bolger’s free kick found Ruairí Keating whose glancing header beat goalkeeper Colin McCabe to put City 1-0 ahead. That all changed for the visitors five minutes from the interval when Ally Gilchrist put the ball in his own net after slipping attempting to clear a cross which the teams 1-1 at the break. This was reflected in the fact that the first real chance of the second half came in the 69th minute when Daniel Kreszic; one of City’s standout performers, forced a top drawer save from McCabe. The Swede was subbed off straight after for the returning Cian Murphy, who was next to come close to putting City ahead. The striker was inches away from connecting from a Bolger cross for what would have been a certain goal. Drogs’ enjoyed more possession in the last ten minutes with a Dale Rooney header coming close in the dying moments , Kevin Doherty’s side appeared content to take the point on the road.Cork and Drogheda share the spoils on Leeside
The game began at a pedestrian pace with both sides seemingly happy to prolong the feeling out process.
In a half lacking quality, Drogheda only had their first shot on 28 minutes when Jarlath Jones hit his effort straight at Jimmy Corcoran.
The second half began in the same vain as the first with neither side being able to take control of the game.
City rallied late on through an Aaron Bolger effort but It’s another two points dropped for Colin Healy’s side who have still only won once this season with another flat display at home.

Full time as the sides finish 1-1. A poor game in truth with few chances. Kevin Doherty will be the happier of the two managers while its another lead given away by Colin Healy's side.
Darren Noone on for Ryan Brennan for Drogheda. Four added minutes to be played.
Drogs' enjoying a bit more of the possession as the game enters injury time.
Jonas Hakkinen off for Ethan Varian for City while Warren Davis is on for Drogs in place of Freddie Draper.
Close call for Murphy there. Had he got a foot on the cross it would have been a certain goal for City.
Aaron McNally on for Dylan Grimes for Drogheda.
Kreszic hits a long range effort from nowwhere forcing a terric safe from McCabe. The Swede is taken off straight after with the returning Cian Murphy coming on in his place.
First sub for City as Albin Wimbo comes on for Barry Coffey.
Lovely feet from Bolger inside the box before he lays it off to Coffey. His shot however is put over for a corner. Cian Coleman heads it over the bar from the resulting set piece.
Keating the latest player to recieve a yellow.
Great chance for Cian Bargary after recieving the ball from Kreszic's cross. He takes too much out of it however and the ball is cleared.
Kreszic gets a yellow for City for a clumsy tackle.
Back underway. No changes to either side at the interval.
1-1 at HT, Keating's header was cancelled out by Gilchrist's OG in a fairly uneventful 45 minutes of football.
Big chance for the visitors on the stroke of half time, a big goalmouth scramble ends in a shot straight at Corcoran.
1 additonal minute of added time in the first half.
The visitors haven't created much so to concede a goal just before half time is quite a sucker punch.
Drogheda are level through an Allie Gilchrist OG. The City defender slipped as the tried to clear a cross and made a poor connection with the ball in the process to put the ball in his own net.
A dangerous ball in from Coffey's corner but unfortunately from a City perspective it misses everyone and eventually the referee blows for offside.
Daniel Kreszic is inches away from doubling CIty's lead. He tries to flick the ball over the keeper's head but it doesn't quite come off.
First shot from Drogheda through Jarlath Jones but its straight at Corcoran.
Game has settled back into a pretty pedestrian pace since the goal with the crowd unsurprisingly pretty flat now.
City lead through Ruairi Keating whose glancing header from an Aaron Bolger free kick makes it 1-0.
Very little in the way of chances so far in this game with both sides seemingly trying to ease their way into the game.
