Vital win for Bohs over UCD
Bohemians picked up a much needed 3-0 win over UCD thanks to goals from Junior Ogedi-Uzikwe, Dawson Devoy and Promise Omochere.
It was a morale boosting performance from Keith Long’s side as they turned on the style in the second-half, dismantling The Students with ease.
Despite leading at the break, the opening 45 minutes was one of frustrating for Bohs.
They struggled to break down UCD, resorting to long balls and the game became quite scrappy as Bohs failed to maintain possession.
Junior would come closest for the hosts after 15 minutes when Conor Levningaton found him inside the box but Lorcan Healy was on hand to deny his effort.
The visitors grew into the game and managed to carve out chances of their own.
Dylan Duffy rose highest in the Bohs box to make a good connection on a header but James Talbot made a decent save.
Bohs would get the breakthrough just before half-time when Healy spilled a long range shot right in front of Junior for an easy finish.
Keith Long’s men took the momentum of such a late goal to start the second-half at a much better tempo.
Liam Burt nearly scored one of the goals of the season when he went on a solo run from the halfway line only to shoot wide of the target.
Despite their dominance the man between the Bohs sticks was called into action.
Talbot pulled off a great double save to deny Duffy and Donal Higgins to keep the lead intact.
Just after the hour mark Bohemians began to pull away.
A lovely team move resulted in Junior being brought down by Sam Todd inside the UCD box.
Dawson Devoy converted from the spot to double their lead.
Five minutes later he helped triple by sliding the ball into the box for Promise Omochere who took one touch to compose himself before smashing it past Healy.
While the three points are vital for Bohs, it will be the second-half performance that fans will be happiest with.
They now turn their attention to next Friday with an away trip to league leaders Derry City at Brandywell.
UCD are back in action at home on Friday, welcoming Dundalk to Belfield.

Talbot with two great saves to deny Duffy and then Higgins on the follow up, a let off for Bohs there who were caught sleeping
Coote fires a volley from outside the box but it sails wide
What a goal that would have been! Burt with a great solo run from the halfway line drives at UCD and fires a shot just wide
