Since the club was founded in 1889 it has contributed to county teams at every grade and the club is central to every development in the GAA in Leitrim. Although the wait for a Senior Championship now stretches back to 1990, Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins remain the most successful GAA club in Leitrim with 20 titles to their name.
2019 saw the club compete in the Senior Championship final for the first time since 1998 and they will be hoping the long wait for success comes to an end this year.
