Leaders Peamount remain six points ahead of second place Shelbourne after a Dublin Derby win over DLR Waves at Whitehall.

The visitors dominated most of the game but had to wait until the 41st minute to open the scoring; DLR defender Jess Gleeson the unfortunate player to deflect the ball into her own net. 

Freya Healy got Pea's second in the 60th minute and captain Karen Duggan got a third in the 76th minute. 

The visitors enjoyed a lot of possession in the opening half but didn’t carve out too many scoring opportunities. In the 10th minute a long range effort from Freya Healy came off the crossbar.

In the 20th minute Becky Watkins hit a lovely strike but it was well saved by DLR keeper Eve Badana. Watkins flashed a shot across the face of the goal in the 35th minute.

DLR tried to catch Peas on the break but created nothing to trouble the visiting keeper Niamh Reid-Burke. Eve O’Brien hit an effort in the 41st minute but it lacked power and Reid-Burke was able to gather.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 44th minute when the visitors deservedly took the lead. The excellent Watkins did well to get into the box and her cross was turned into her own net by DLR defender Gleeson.

Right before half-time Lauryn O’Callaghan played a neat ball to Watkins and she brought an excellent save out of the DLR netminder.

O’Brien’s shot hit the arm of Chloe Moloney in the 56th minute but there were not many protests from the home side. The visitors doubled their advantage on the hour mark; Healy ran onto a ball over the top to shoot past Badana.

Minutes later Gleeson cleared Healy's effort off the line as Peas went in search of a third goal. They continued to press and got their third in the 76th minute when Watkins’ ball was finished to the net by Duggan.

Peas continued to create chances. Dearbhaile Beirne hit a strike from distance in the 83rd minute but it sailed over the bar.
