Match Report
Chris Lyons penalty was the last goal at the Carlisle this season as Bray came back to draw 1-1 with Finn Harps. The number 9 for the Seagulls scored his tenth goal of the season after Makinson had put the away side ahead in the first half. In awful conditions, it was hard for either side to get a grip of the game, but it was Finn Harps who managed to create more, and they took the lead in the 25th minute. A corner was taken short to Tony McNamee and the number 26 did well to wriggle free of his marker. He then played the ball back to the penalty spot to tee up Matthew Makinson who got his foot around the ball and curls into the near post and past the diving Connor. It wasn’t to be the away side’s last chance of the half either. Set pieces were once again causing Bray havoc and they could not clear their lines, with the ball falling to Noe Baba who unleashed a powerful shot which Connor instinctively batted away to keep his side only a goal down going into half time. Bray came out fighting in the second half and had the wind in their favour, which helped bring about the equaliser. A long ball fell into the path of Chris Lyons, who was about to take a touch when he was bundled down by Baba just inside the box. The Bray striker stepped up to the spot himself and sent Cooney the wrong way to put the game back on level terms. Just after and Finn Harps almost re-took the lead. McNamee tried an audacious chip, and it went over the head of Connor but was cleared just before going in by Thompson. Another goal line clearance was to follow for Bray, this time even more spectacular. McLaughlin was played down the line and squared the ball across to Sean O’Donnell. Somehow, Max Murphy got in front of the Harps players finish and deflected the ball over for a corner from what looked to be a certain goal. Late on in the game, history was made as 15-year-old Billy O’Neill came on to replace Chris Lyons, becoming the “Wanderers” youngest ever player, besting the record of now Blackburn winger Andrew Moran.Lyons Penalty Delivers Stalemate In Carlisle

Full time and that brings an end to the 2023 season, a draw probably a fair result in the end. Thank you for joining me throughout the year at the Carlisle, have a good night.
Five minutes added on here.
Makinson booked as he scythes down Chukwu out wide.
History made as Billy O'Neill comes on as Bray's youngest ever player, replacing Chris Lyons.
First Harps change as Banda replaces Rainey.
Another Bray change, Cooney on for Craven.
Cooney does well to get down low and tip a Craven free kick round the post.
Massive chance for Finn Harps as McLaughlin races in behind and squares to O'Donnell but somehow Murphy gets in front of the ball and blocks a certain goal.
Another big penalty shout for Bray as Cooney fells Lyons but the referee is having none of this appeal and it is a goal kick.
Finn Harps go down the other end and almost re-take the lead. McNamee with a deft chip which sails over Connor but is cleared by Thompson.
The Bray number nine cooly converts, sending Cooney the wrong way. 1-1!
Penalty to Bray! A long ball finds Lyons, who is brought down in the box by Baba. The defender is booked and up steps Lyons...
Kizenga another player for Bray into the book.
Third Bray change, Webster on for Hudson.
Back underway here, two changes for Bray, Chukwu and Kizenga on for Almirall and Knight.
First half over and it is the away side who lead, and deservedly so. Bray have been a mess at the back at times, especially from set pieces. More to come in the second half.
A minute added on at the end of the first half.
Huge save from Connor to get the game at 1-0 as Baba gets off a powerful shot but the Bray keeper fists it away.
Almirall booked now for Bray.
Now Harps have their first booking, Rainey clips Almirall as he passes him.
McNamee at the heart of everything for Harps as he scissor kicks a volley just over.
First yellow of the game goes to the home side and Chris Lyons.
Finn Harps deservedly take the lead! It's a well worked corner too, McNamee gets the ball and wriggles free, pulls it back to Makinson who finishes really well. 1-0 to the away side!
A scramble just outside the Harps box results in a Craven effort which rolls into Cooney's hands.
Some lovely footwork by McNamee sets himself up for a volley from just outside the box but it drifts just wide.
Harps having a bit of joy down their left hand side but have not created much yet.
First big chance of the game goes Bray's way as Chris Lyons is played through on goal but his effort is tame and straight at Cooney.
Underway here at the Carlisle.
Teams are coming out now as kick off approaches.
Good evening and welcome to a dreary Carlisle Grounds where the rain is hammering down. No changes for Bray tonight from last week while there have been three for Finn Harps, with a change in goal as Oisin Cooney replaces Tuta.
