Match Report
Galway trash Wexford at Ferrycarrig
Galway maintained their 100% record after a 4-0 win in Ferrycarrig park.
David Hurley broke the deadlock from the spot after 45 minutes gone on the clock a penalty late in the half, a massive disappointment for the home side.
Lomboto extended United's lead after Wexford had a good opening spell in the second half with just 55 minutes on the clock and took the wind out of the Wexford sails. Darren Clake and Vincent Borden added two more goal late on
Galway looked to be side with massive confidence in the opening exchanges of this tie. Ed McCarthy had an early effort sail over the bar after three minutes.
United dominated the early 10 minutes of this match but Wexford showed quality on the break and their defence was impenetrable.
Wexford's strong defence kept Galway at bay, keeping the table toppers out and restricting them to long shots and set pieces.
Unfortunately for the home side a lapse in concentration late on in the half saw Wexford conceded a penalty just on the strike of half time.
David Hurley stepped up and slotted home putting the tribesmen 1-0 at half time.
Wexford came out in the second half very well and kept Galway on the back foot as the efforts started piling up the home side looked destined to get an equaliser unfortunately for the home fans this was not the case.
Against the run of play in the opening 10 minutes of the second half Lomboto found the back of the net his first effort was well saved by keeper Charlie Heffernan but the ball landed at the feet of Lomboto again and he chipped his shot over Heffernan United 2-0 up a massive challenge ahead of Wexford.
This second goal took the bite out of Wexford and seemingly stomped out any chance of a fight back.
United determined to make it 8 wins from 8 put pressure on the home side freshening things up from the bench showing their depth and quality in the squad this season.
Sub Darren Clarke scored the third of the evening, his brilliant break away goal just slipping under the Wexford keeper, while Vincent Borden kept up his good goal scoring form adding the fourth in the 80th minute a nice tap in at the back post finishing the tie one and for all.
Galway go 8 wins from 8 a perfect start to the season.
