Match Report
Wexford Youths hammered Treaty United 4-0 at Ferrycarrig Park after an early red card for the away side made it all too easy for the free scoring Wexford side. Treaty had a tough test on their hands coming away from home to beat a Wexford side with a lot of quality. That task became an awful lot harder when, after a very sloppy pass as Treaty tried to play out from the back, Sarah Duke Power brought down a clear through Kylie Murphy in the penalty area and was given her marching orders. Aoibheann Clancy’s penalty beat the keeper down to her right to put Wexford ahead of the now outnumbered Treaty side after just 8 minutes. While Wexford failed to create much for the next while, despite having all the ball, they only needed one more chance to put themselves firmly in control after 27 minutes. Ciara Rossiter came around the back of the Treaty defence to fire in a bouncing cross from Abbie Brophy with a crisply taken strike into the near post to put Wexford two goals up in the tie. Apart from one somewhat testing effort from range by Michaela Lawrence which Anne-Marie Ulliac in the Treaty net dealt with pretty comfortably, the rest of the first half passed by without incident. Halftime substitute Ellen Molloy had a wonderful chance seven minutes after the restart, being played through the middle with just the keeper to beat by Murphy, but Ulliac stood tall to make a wonderful save. With an hour gone though Murphy herself made no mistake in putting the game to bed, nodding home a sumptuous cross by Clancy to score Wexford’s third. Emily Corbet gave the defence all sorts of headaches, going close twice after her introduction, but it was Murphy again to make it four, Wexford’s striker bagging her brace with a thumping back post header at a corner after 73 minutes. Treaty could never trouble the Wexford net and the game petered out, but Youths will be delighted with their nights work, exactly the result they needed to try and kickstart their sluggish season.Youths Pick Up Emphatic Win Over Treaty United

It finished here 4-0 to the hosts with two goals in the second half from Kylie Murphy wrapping up the points nicely for Wexford. Treaty stuck at it but we’re always on the back foot after going a goal and a player behind so early on. Disappointing night for Treaty but an excellent one for the Youths.
Treaty never gave up in this one but Youths, and particularly Kylie Murphy, we’re too strong for the tonight
Ulliac gets down low to her left to stop a strike by Lenihan from outside the area
Effort from a long, long way out by Griffin and an easy stop for Nix
Heavy collision in the box means a long stoppage here
Very little the away side can do now other than try and keep the score down for the last few minutes
And from that corner Wexford do make it four. A thumping back post header by Murphy as she bags her second of the night
Super break by Wexford and Corbet nearly makes it four, beating two players and almost toe poking the ball under Ulliac but it goes out for a corner
That should be that in terms of Treaty’s hopes in this one, Murphy has been a constant thorn in the away sides defence all evening
Fleming makes a nice run down the right and beats the defender, but her shot is too close to Nix who stops the instant reply by Treaty
And just after Murphy gets on the end of a Clancy cross to nod home Wexford’s third past a flailing Ulliac
Corbet breaks down the left before cutting in and smashing her effort just the wrong side of the far post, really exhibiting her threat
Treaty will need something special to pull anything from this game, but one goal could make Wexford a little nervy
Substitute Emily Molloy is played through the centre of the Treaty defence with just the keeper to beat by Murphy, but a wonderful save by Ulliac keeps the deficit to two
We are back on here
Halftime here and Wexford lead 2-0. The early sending off of Duke Power and conceding of Clancy’s resulting penalty was a nightmare start for Treaty and it only got worse after Rossiter smashed in a second on 27 minutes. Let’s see in this second half if the Limerick side can conjure up a miracle to get something out of this one
Clancy can’t get it high enough and it clips the top of the wall
Some good footwork by Lennedy earns Wexford a dangerous free kick position
Lawrence drives one at goal from about 25 yards but despite the sting in the shot, Treaty keeper Ulliac holds on well
This will be a disheartening half for this Treaty side, having to work so hard now in that hot weather for very little reward but they’ll all know they’ve got to keep their heads up for the remainder of the game
The extra player was clear to see in that goal scoring move and Wexford can cruise from here
A Brophy cross flies over everyone’s head in the box before landing at the feet of Ciara Rossiter who drills the ball into the near corner with far too much power for Ulliac to handle. 2-0 Wexford
Treaty continue to try and build from the back but continually are giving the ball back to Wexford in dangerous positions
Treaty have struggled to get out of their half, though have kept Wexford from creating any more clear chances so far
A tough test just got a whole lot tougher for Treaty and the minutes since the red card and penalty have been all Wexford, expect it to remain like that for most of this game now
Sarah Duke Power was sent off for the offence as she denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity for Murphy
And Clancy slots it away down to the keepers right to put Wexford ahead
Penalty to Wexford as Kylie Murphy is pulled down clean through on goal
Ball is pulled back well to Aoife Cronin who’s shot is weak and wide of the near post in a great position
Conlon has a shot for Wexford from the edge of the box that has the keeper scrambling but flies wide of the mark
We are underway
The sun and heat will add a different aspect to this match in a season played almost exclusively in rain and dreary conditions
Treaty are looking to secure only their second win of the season, and will feel optimistic they could get something out of this tie due to Wexford’s uncharacteristically poor form this season, especially defensively
The previous meeting between the two sides finished 2-2 up in Markets Field, and both sides will be hoping to go one better tonight
Just a few minutes away now from kick off in this evenings game between Wexford Youths and Treaty United in the sun down in Ferrycarrig Park
