Drogs and Shels share spoils in Weavers
Evan Caffreys free kick stunned Drogheda to earn his Shelbourne side a point away at Weavers Park. Freddie Draper struck for the second game in succession for the home side to give them the lead early in the second half.
An Uneventful first half where neither side had any real clear cut chances. Drogheda were perhaps the happier side of the two as they sustained greater spells of possession and threatened the away goal more than not with Draper, Markey and Rooney all dangerous.
Kevin Dohertys side finished the first half strong with successive corners and came out the second half just as strong as Lincoln City loanee Freddie Draper makes it 2 in 2 for him as he rattles the net from close range on 49 minutes.
Moments later it was almost level, Robinson all but score his header beats McCabe in the Drogheda net and strikes the base of the post and rolled across the goal before being cleared away.
Moments later Jack Moylan plays in JR Wilson but his touch epitomised Shels evening as the ball bounces out of play just on the hour mark.
Draper once again made a nuisance of himself winning a free kick and then smashing the cross bar with a header from close range.
A rare mistake from Adeboyega gifts the Reds a free kick on the edge of the box and Evan Caffery needed no invitation as he stepped up and placed the dead ball in the top corner of McCabes net.
As the game entered the final 10 minutes Duff through the kitchen sink at it with Adeboyego and Ahui stepping up to the plate to stop Markey and Jad Hakiki.
The Game ended sourly as both sides had to be pulled apart with a spate of yellow cards handed out by the referee.
Next up for Drogheda is the visit of Derry City on Friday night while Shelbourne host UCD at Tolka Park.
