O’Gorman Stars As Peamount Hammer Cork
It was the Áine O’Gorman show as Peamount United cruised past Cork City at Greenogue this evening.
It took O’Gorman just six minutes to get on the scoresheet although there was debate among the officials as to whether or not the ball had crossed the line after a goalmouth scramble.
O’Gorman netted again in the 10th minute when she rounded keeper Abbie McCarthy who had a good game despite the one-sided scoreline. She got her hat-trick on 33rd minutes with a close range left footed strike.
The captain didn’t get all the glory however, Karen Duggan netted her first goal of the season on 37 minutes when she headed in a corner to give hosts a 4-0 lead at half-time.
It was more of the same after the interval as Stephanie Roche made it 5-0 with a fantastic long-range strike on 48 minutes which could give here chances of an Ireland recall a real boost.
To further Cork’s woes Laren Singleton had to go off with a serious injury before the hour mark which caused a lengthy break in play.
O’Gorman netted twice more to finish with a five goal tally while sub Alannah McEvoy also got on the scoresheet in the 81st minute to make it 8-0.
Cork got one back on 86 minutes through Shaunagh McCarthy whose free kick was headed into the net by a Peamount defender.
8-1 it finished at full-time with Aine O’Gorman putting in a five star performance for Peamount who go top of the WNL.

Full-time. Peamount go top after an impressive 8-1 victory of Cork City. The story of the game being Aine O'Gorman getting five goals in a brilliant performance.
Cork get one back from Shaunagh McCarthy who's free kick is headed in a by Peamount defender it appears.
McEvoy with Peamount's eight of the game, coming just moments after O'Gorman. The hosts finishing very strongly here.
Aine O'Gorman with her fifth to make it 7-0. Started the day on 4 for the season and could end up in double figures by the end of the game.
Scarlett Herron comes on for her senior Peamount debut instead of Duggan. Nadine Seward on for Christina Dring for Cork.
Another sub for Peamount as Chloe Moloney is off for Sarah Duke.
Double sub for Peamount. Kelly and O'Hanlon replace Doyle and Berrill.
O'Gorman gets her fourth goal to make it 6-0. Unfortunately the stream has prevented me from seeing it but it's been some afternoon for the Irish international.
Apologies, the the Loi.tv stream appears to be down. Hopefully it will come back in the next couple of minutes. Peamount very much in the ascendancy here.
Excuse me, it's a Cork City player, Lauren Singleton is the player. Hopefully it is not too serious as there's been a few minutes break in play. Aoibhinn Donnelly is on in her place.
Break in play as a Peamount player is down injured.
5-0 Peamount and it's a great strike by Stephanie Roche. She only does worldies of course.
Danielle Burke and Aoife Cronin on for Cork instead of Kate O'Donovan and Lauren Walsh. Alannah McAvoy on for Peamount instead of Erin McLaughlin.
Back underway.
Teams back out for the second half.
Half-time and It's been the Aine O'Gorman show so far with her hat-trick along with Karen Duggan's goal putting Peamount 4-0 up at the break.
Good move by City there, Zara Foley takes a quick free, receives the ball again but her shot goes left and wide.
4-0 and it\'s Karen Duggan who gets it from a corner. McCarthy had made a great save from O\'Gorman before that and has had a really good game despite the scoreline.
3-0 Peamount and it's a hat-trick for Aine O'Gorman who finishes calmly into the bottom left hand corner from close range.
Cork to their credit have been resolute in defence and have denied Stephanie Roche and O'Gorman on a couple of occasions in the past few minutes.
Great save from McCarthy to deny O'Gorman her hat-trick. Both players are having very busy games so far.
Doyle and O'Gorman running the show so far, City struggling to get hold of the ball. Singleton manages to get a shot away for Cork but fouls keeper Niamh Burke in the aftermath.
2-0 Peamount and it\'s Aine O\'Gorman again after Sadbh Doyle played through a great ball which O\'Gorman recieves and rounds keeper Abbie McCarthy.
Aine O'Gorman opens the scoring for Peamount as her shot is deemed to have crossed the line by the linesman. Her fourth goal of the season.
Unsurprisingly Peamount have dominated possession so far with City using the offside trap to great effect in the opening few minutes.
Underway.
Teams beginning to come out onto the pitch. Small delay to kick-off.
