Shaw delivers late for Bray
Bray Wanderers staged a smash and grab at Eamonn Deacy Park tonight as an injury time Gary Shaw header gave Bray their first win of the season as they beat Galway United 2-1.
The first half started with a bang as Bray came firing out of the gates with some beautiful slick passing. This bore fruit in the sixth minute.
Some excellent work in the midfield by Richie O’Farrell led to a perfect through ball by Brandon Kavanagh to Joe Doyle. Doyle’s first attempt on goal was saved, but he stuck with it and tapped home the rebound to put the visitors ahead.
Kavanagh continued to be a big part of the Seagulls attack, as he and Doyle continued to link up. The Wicklow team were unlucky to not go two up in the 16th minute, when a low cross found its way through to Luka Lovic; but the midfielders shot bounced off the post.
It took the Tribesmen the best part of a half an hour to start showing signs of life, but they didn’t need much to equalise.
A 34th minute Carlton Ubaezuonu run down the left side, led to a perfect cross into the box, which Ruairi Keating poked home to bring United level. It didn’t take long for the home team to kick on with Ubaezuonu and Keating both having excellent chances before the half.
After the break the game seemed to slow down with both teams happy to probe and keep control of possession without any real drive forward.
Galway had a few chances, with Shane Duggan’s long shot forcing a good save out of Brian Maher. Aside from that the majority of the second half was quiet, with either team struggling to take a hold of the game.
It wasn’t until late into injury time that the tie would be broken. Kavanagh whipped in a perfect corner from the right side and substitute Gary Shaw was able to get his head onto the ball to put it past Kearns and give Wanderers the lead.
Galway made a last gasp attempt at getting the equaliser, but it was too little too late; as Bray held on to capture their first win of the season away from home.

The game has really settled into a lull with neither team really looking dangerous going foward. That being said Galway's goal came out of nowhere so it's entirely possible we're about to see a flurry of action.

Mikie Rowe immediately in the action as he latches onto the end of a ball into the box but his shot is blocked by the Bray defence.

Bray are struggling to really move the ball forward with any intent. Outside of Brandon Kavanagh nobody seems to really be able to move the ball into the final third.

Shane Duggan forces Brian Maher into action as he smashes a shot from outside the box but Maher is able to push the ball past the post for a corner.
Quiet start here to the second half as both teams continue to feel each other out and try to get back into the game.
SECOND HALF KICK OFF! No changes for either team as Galway will be hoping to continue their good run of play that they had to end the first half.
HALF TIME: The Seagulls will be glad to hear the half time whistle because Galway have really come on strong to end the half and will feel like they should be ahead.
Galway have really perked up in the final portion of this first half. Carlton Ubaezuonu and Ruairi Keating have really posed problems for the Bray's defense with both having two chances both come dangerously close to putting the Tribesmen ahead.
Galway again finding purchase down the left flank with Ruairi Keating getting in a great low cross that the Bray defenders miss as it falls to Shane Duggan who blasts the ball over the bar from 6 yards out.
GOAL FOR GALWAY! Out of nothing a cross from Carlton Ubaezuonu lands right at the feet of Ruairi Keating who pokes the ball into the net to even up the score!
Bray win the ball again in midfield and immediately counter attack before Brandon Kavanagh smashes a shot from 30 yards out and forces a tremendous save out of Kearns.
Brandon Kavanagh sets Joe Doyle through with a wonderful ball over the top of Galway's defense but Doyle's shot is straight at Connor Kearns in the United net.
Connor Clifford and Richie O'Farrell are proving to be quite the force in the middle of the park for Bray. Clifford in particular has already been responsible for winning the ball for Bray multiple times.
Dylan Barnett looses the ball on the left side and gets a bit too eager to claim it back resulting in a yellow card.
Brandon Kavanagh continues to pull the strings for Bray as he roams across the attacking third looking for spots where he can collect the ball and distribute.
Bray hit the post! A beautiful sequence of passing from Bray down the left side leads to a Joe Doyle cross which somehow finds it's way to an outstretched Luka Lovic limb. Lovic's attempt only just misses landing in the net and Galway survive a scare.
This has been a theme with Bray in most of their games this season. They start so strong and look to play attacking football and press the other team to give up possession.
