The Bornacoola Hugh O’Neills were founded in 1889 by J.J. Kelleher, a local school teacher. The club have won four Leitrim senior titles (1938, 1943, 1953 and 1957). Back to back promotions in 1996 & 1997 saw the club rise from Junior to Senior level for the first time since the 1960’s. The Bor’s reached a Senior Final in 2008 but were denied in the final by Glencar/Manorhamilton.
