Aughavas have won nine Senior Championship titles and sit in fourth place on the Leitrim roll of honour. Arguably the most successful period in the club’s history was when they won four Senior Championships between 1949 and 1955. The rural club has felt the impact of emigration since its last senior success in 2000 although the winning of the Junior Championship last year indicates a bright upturn in the club’s fortunes.
In 1978 they opened a newly purchased playing field and dressing rooms, a luxury at the time. Since then a new gym and two new dressing rooms were opened in 2008 and the club are currently considering the development of a proposed new astro pitch.

A Seamus Sweeney inspired Aughavas overcame a seven point opening salvo in the first ten minutes for their neighbours Cloone to win the Vistamed Junior Football Championship nine months after the original date for the postponed game.
