Ian Ryan announced as new Bray Wanderers manager

Bray Wanderers have announced this evening that former Wexford manager Ian Ryan will take over as manager, signing a two-year deal.

Ryan informed Wexford that he would be stepping down as manager just weeks ago, the news comes as a huge blow to Wexford, Ryan was linked to a number of roles but has since joined the Wicklow side not too far away from his previous club.

It is a major appointment and a statement of intent for Bray, as Ryan did a great job with Wexford this year as they just missed out on a play-off place, it was a major battle between them and Treaty United with the Shannonsiders taking the spot in the end.

Announcing the news Bray released the following statement this evening:

“Bray Wanderers are pleased to welcome Ian Ryan as Head Coach of the first team, signing a two year deal.

Ian will have responsibility for the first team and liaise with all existing football structures within the club.

Ian is fully aligned with the club’s ambition to build a sustainable and successful club based on a thriving academy and a modern stadium.

During this building process we recognise first team success as an important contributing factor to our longer term plans and will provide Ian with all necessary support to deliver success in 2023 and beyond.”

Finishing seventh this season, they will look for a better result next season and may be busy in the transfer window as Ryan will look to build his squad ahead of the new season.
