Match Report
A dream home debut and return for Wexford’s front two gave the home side a 3-1 win over Sligo Rovers this evening. A homecoming and the start of a new love affair, that’s what Wexford Youths had upfront which was the difference as they beat Sligo Rovers 3-1 at Ferrycarrig Park, with the returning Rianna Jarett and last season’s top scorer Emily Corbet both scoring, coming after a brilliant strike from Sarah Kiernan had ruled out Michaela Lawrence’s opener. Wexford dominated the opening period of the game, in and out of possession, allowing Sligo to play out of the back and pressing high. They should really have taken the lead in the 7th minute as well. A lovely cross in from Ciara Rossiter was met by Abbie Brophy but her volley crashed back off of the crossbar. The home side finally made their pressure count when they scored the opening goal in the 21st minute. A looping Rossiter cross was allowed bounce and Michaela Lawrence was first to it, connecting with a lovely half volley, guiding the ball into the bottom left corner. Sligo’s first half was worsened when Casey Howe, who had been their liveliest player, was forced off with an injury in the 39th minute. The second half was just underway when Sarah Kiernan produced one of the goals of the season already. Abbie Brophy broke forward for Wexford but a heavy touch gave the ball to Kiernan, who struck the ball just inside the home side’s half, sailing over the helpless Williams, stunning everyone and bringing Sligo back into a game where they had been second best. Wexford should really have gotten back in front only a few minutes later when Rianna Jarett played Rossiter through on goal, however, her finish was just wide of the goal, agonisingly rolling past the right-hand post. Kiernan could have had another goal of the season contender in the 65th minute, meeting a loose ball and striking a fierce shot towards the top corner but this time, Maeve Williams matched it with an equally superb save to tip it over. With an eye on the World Cup towards the end of the year, Rianna Jarett returned to Wexford to try play her way back into the thoughts of Vera Pauw, and her first goal back will show what she offers. In the 70th minute, Abbie Brophy showed some real trickery down the right hand side and put in a delighted cross, which Jarrett was only too happy to head home and put Wexford put in front. The game was wrapped up 6 minutes later when a lovely ball over the top found the on-running Rossiter yet again. This time, she squared it instead of shooting and Emily Corbet stabbed the ball home to open her account for the Youths. Jarett & Corbett Combine To Keep Wexford Unbeaten

All over here and a comfortable win for Wexford, with strike partners Jarett and Corbet scoring their first goals of the season, coming after Sarah Kiernan's stunning finish for Sligo. I'm Gary Dowling, thank you for joining me this evening.
A chance for a fourth as substitute Bergin just misses the ball as it bobbles over her foot and goes out for a goalkick.
Triple sub for Wexford, De Mange, Carroll and Corrigan replace Brophy, Lawrence and Rossiter.
Goalscorer Rianna Jarett replaced by Bergin with 10 to go.
Wexford now surely out of sight. A lovely ball over the top finds Ciara Rossiter who races through on goal and, unselfishly, she sqaures it to Emily Corbet who stabs home to grab her first Wexford goal. 3-1.
Wexford back in front! It's the returning Rianna Jarett on her second home debut for Wexford with a lovely header but the goal is all about Abbie Brophy, who put in a brilliant cross after some great wing play
Second Sligo sub as Melly makes way for Kerri Loughrey.
Sarah Kiernan with another brilliant shot at goal but this time, Williams is equal to it and produces a sensational save to knock it over.
Wexford should be back in front. Jarett plays Rossiter through on goal and her finish goes just past the right hand post
A half chance for Jarett who scuffs her shot wide. That goal doesn't look like it's changed the game much.
What a goal!! Sarah Kiernan with a left footed long range effort just instead Wexford\\\'s half and it flies over Williams to level the game. Against the run of play but a stunning effort.
Rianna Jarrett causing problems already in this second half, getting down the left hand side with ease but her cross comes to nothing.
Second half underway here at Ferrycarrig Park.
A big chance to double Wexford's lead, as Emily Corbin gets in down the right hand side but hits the side netting. That brings the first half to a close, Wexford good for their 1-0 lead.
Two minutes added on here.
The night goes from bad to worse as Casey Howe can't shrug off an injury she sustained. She's replaced by Jode Loughrey.
Another yellow for Sligo, this time for Leah Kelly who collides with Wexford keeper Williams.
A speculative effort from Casey Howe goes sailing over, she's been Sligo's bright spark.
First yellow of the match goes to Sarah Kiernan as she gives away a dangerous free kick.
First real chance of note for Sligo but it trickles out for a corner.
Best chance in these early minutes falls to Abbie Brophy from close range but her effort strikes the crossbar
Wexford on the front foot early on as they are putting pressure on the Sligo goal, a couple chances that have gone wide
The game in Ferrycarrig Park gets underway
