O’Gorman departs Peamount ahead of 2023 season

Peamount United have confirmed that Aine O’Gorman is set to leave the club for a new journey, calling time on a five-year stint with the Greenogue club.

O’Gorman was the top scorer in 2022, having netted 22 times this year alone, she will be a force wherever she will end up, the rumour mill has Shamrock Rovers making her their star signing for the season ahead. The most potent forward in the league the last number of years scoring 51 goals since 2020, the most of any player and this season alone was leaps ahead of the rest.

A regular for Peamount since 2017, O’Gorman has played with the likes of Stella Maris, Doncaster Rovers Belles and UCD Waves during her club playing career, the 33-year-old brings plenty of experience wherever she has gone and will now go to start a new journey.

With a World Cup to prepare for next year, a move to guarantee minutes is what is expected for O’Gorman, linking up with Collie O’Neill at Shamrock Rovers would be a great move for both parties if she especially is looking for a new challenge in her career, that move alone would signal Rovers intent to challenge for the title next year.

Announcing the news on their club twitter account, Peamount said:

Everyone at Peamount United would like to wish Áine O’Gorman the best of luck as she decides to embark on a new journey. We thank Áine for her incredible contributions over the years and look forward to supporting her at the World Cup next summer
