Billy King signs on again at Pats

St. Patrick’s Athletic have announced the extension of the contract of Scottish winger Billy King to the club for the 2021 season.

King was a vital attacking option in the Pat’s squad throughout the Covid affected 2020 season despite being hampered by injury issues through periods of the season.

He made 14 appearances scoring a single goal at home against Cork City in the early portion of the league.

King made his senior competitive debut for Scottish side Hearts back in 2013 where he would make 96 appearances also featuring in the top two divisions in Scotland with Dundee United (66 apps) and loan spells at both Inverness Caledonian Thistle (32 apps) & Rangers (13 apps) during his career.

Speaking from Scotland King told the St Pat’s website “I loved it over there last season, obviously it was different circumstances only playing four games before Covid hit.”

“Hopefully this season goes smoothly without any stoppages cause I feel like in those games we were getting a bit of momentum and we went through patchy spells thereafter.”

Scoring my goal at home against Cork was a great feeling. It was the last full game with fans in the stadium, you miss that so much now. That was the weekend my mates came over as well so we had a decent night out on that Saturday. The last one before everything shut down.”

Head Coach Stephen O’Donnell spoke to the club’s website saying “I’m delighted that Billy has signed back, he has the potential to be one of the best wingers in the league”
