LOIWomen Podcast: Alfie Wylie (Former NI Manager) – S4 Ep11

With the conclusion of the group stages of the Avenir Sports All Island Cup last weekend former Northern Ireland Women’s manager Alfie Wylie drops in to discuss the competition, his current role with the SuperCupNI (formerly Milk Cup) and his thoughts on the health of women’s football on the Island.

Alfie spent 14 years as the manger of Northern Ireland’s women’s side with responsibility for all of the underage sides at various stages throughout that period also. In 2019 he moved to the newly created role of Head of Women’s Elite Performance overseeing the girl’s talent pathway programmes and the Women’s Performance Academy at Ulster University before stepping away from the Irish FA in 2022.

More recently he has been commentating for LOITV on the Avenir Sports All Island Cup as well as helping to promote the SuperCupNI which was launched last night.

As well as the Avenir Cup results and quarter final draw, Breifne Earley and Aaron Clarke (The WNL Show) will also be discussing the upcoming round of fixtures on Saturday where league leaders Galway United visit under the cosh Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium, live on TG4 (7:35pm).

The recent Irish squad announcement will also be in focus ahead of the double header against Sweden with Eva Mangan earning her first senior call up after some fine form in recent months for a resurgent Cork City.
