Roundup: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Round 12 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A got underway on Saturday afternoon, with a number of shocks to savour. 

Clontarf maintained their lead at the top of the table, Lansdowne returned to winning ways and Terenure College maintained their sensational form.

Lansdowne 46-5 Garryowen, Aviva Stadium

Lansdowne rebounded from their shocking defeat to UCD in emphatic fashion, defeating Garryowen 46-5 at Aviva Stadium.

Tries from Daniel Murphy, James Reynolds, Andy Marks (2), James Kenny and Peter Hastie gave the hosts a comfortable win in Dublin.

Clontarf 26-13 UCC, Castle Avenue

Clontarf maintained their lead at the top of Division 1A as they defeated UCC 26-13 at Castle Avenue.

UCC trailed 13-14 with just a handful of minutes remaining before late tries for Dylan Donellan and Cian O’Donoghue gave the hosts a comfortable win.

Young Munster 8-27 Dublin University, Tom Clifford Park 

Dublin University produced an exhilarating display as they registered a 8-27 win against Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park.

Lee Barron scored twice, Diarmuid McCormack and Gavin Jones all crashed over as Dublin University picked up their second win against Young Munster this season.

Terenure College 60-8 UCD, Lakelands Park

Last week’s shock winners UCD couldn’t replicate their glory as they crashed and burned at the hands of Terenure College.

As a result of the win, Terenure College have now won their last seven games and haven’t lost in the league since late October. 

Cork Constitution 26-15 Ballynahinch, Temple Hill 

Cork Constitution produced a strong attacking display as they came away with a bonus point 26-15 win against Ballynahinch at Temple Hill. 

Ballynahinch pulled to within four points in the second half, but that proved to be as good as it got as the hosts added a further two tries to put the visitors out of their misery.
