Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird did reduce the deficit for Belvo late in the second period but are now sitting in last place of the top four’s competition and with a trip to Stradbrook next, Belvo will have it all to do.

Malone 12-13 Wicklow RFC, Saturday 29th January, Gibson Park, 5pm.

Wicklow found their first victory since before the Christmas break after coming from behind to defeat the Ulster side at Gibson Park. Malone led 12-10 at half time thanks to tries from Sophie Armstrong and Shirelle Wilson. Emma Curran was on the scoresheet for Wicklow in the first half, but it was Beth Roberts’ second half penalty which completed the win for the Ashtown Lane outfit. Suttonians 26-19 Galwegians, Saturday 29th January, JJ McDowell Memorial Grounds.

Suttonians did survive a late, second half scare from Wegians to hold out for the bonus point win. Catherine Martin, Carrie O’Keefe and two tries from Emily McKeown proved to be too much for Wegians and cemented Suttonians place as league leaders. Wegians host Malone next while Suttonians take on Ballincollig at Tanner Park.
