AIL Preview: Women’s Division Week 7

Week 7 of the Women’s AIL has another mouth-watering tie with Railway Union and Old Belvedere going head-to-head, while elsewhere Blackrock could go top this weekend.

Blackrock College V Ballincollig, Sat November 5th, Stradbrook, 2:30pm

Blackrock will hope to make it six games unbeaten when they meet Ballincollig this weekend, after a break in the league for a week they will hope no rust is on their players as they look for another success.

The Rock produced a stunning display to come from behind to hand Old Belvedere their first loss of the year, the form guide on paper would suggest they will storm to victory this weekend.

Ballincollig had their fourth defeat of the season last time out to UL in the Munster derby, they are trying to avoid a fifth loss on the row but will be up against it as the Rock bring the fire power.

Railway Union V Old Belvedere, Sat November 5th, Park Avenue, 2:30pm

Another week another mouth watering tie involving Old Belvedere, as they stay in the capital to take on Railway Union who are putting their unbeaten streak on the line.

Union climbed to the summit after an impressive showing in their last tie gave them a fifth bonus point in five games, brushing aside Galwegians 57-7 on the road out West.

Old Belvo were left deflated after leading the opening half, they were unable to reply to Blackrock as they rallied midway in the second half to take the win.

UL Bohemian V Suttonians, Sat November 5th, Castletroy College, 2:30pm

Sixth meets Seventh on Shannonside as UL look to record a second win on the trot, as they take on another struggling side in Suttonians.

UL leapfrogged their opponents after success last time out against Ballincollig, as they look to continue their momentum.

Sutts have had two weeks to prep for the tie with UL, they have just one win which came in their rescheduled win over Cooke, but have not been able to record another success.

Wicklow RFC V Galwegians, Sat November 5th, Ashtown Lane, 2:30pm

Galwegians will be hoping to not face a third defeat on the bounce, as they travel to the Eastern coastline to take on Wicklow. The team sat one place behind them in the league.

Victory for Wicklow would see them move above their Galway opponents, if they can get a third straight win in the league, a tale of two fortunes for the teams as form as form is considered.

Wegians have been well beaten in their last three encounters, they need to find their form if they want to remain in the top four, both have the squads to perform, but Wegians will hope to leave Ashtown Lane with the points on Saturday.
