AIL Preview: Division 2A Week 15

In 2A Blackrock and Queens meet in the tie of the weekend to see who can stake their claim to the title, elsewhere promotion and relegation battles take place as we only have four rounds left.

Blackrock College V Queens University, Saturday 4th March, Stradbrook, 2:30pm

A meeting of the top two is the standout tie this weekend, as Queens look to jump up having missed out last year.

Blackrock despite where they finished in 2B last season made it up, this time around they are on track to make it back to back promotions if they can get the right results, if they do not go up as champions, their on track to be a real force in the playoffs leading by two points they want a win.

Queens got back to winning ways last weekend having had a shock defeat to UL Bohs the week prior, now this time around they must topple a Blackrock side who bested them at the Dub earlier in the year, four games will decide the title it begins!

MU Barnhall V Cashel, Saturday 4th March, Parsonstown, 2:30pm

Having dropped to fourth spot last weekend, Barnhall bid to regain ground as Cashel want back into the promotion hunt.

Not a lot separates Barnhall from the leaders, with Queens and Blackrock doing battle they could gain ground from that with a win, they have been a strong contender in recent weeks but that result last weekend may have just knocked them.

Over the last few weeks Cashel have seen themselves slowly slipping outside the top four, they are now looking to regain their confidence, having lost the reverse tie they are out for the win.

Navan V Old Crescent, Saturday 4th March, Balreask Old, 2:30pm

Two teams that dropped places in the table last weekend, both are nine clear of the drop zone but will look to end the season strong.

Navan just do not have the luck right now, they were beaten by a strong Queens team last weekend and look to bounce back with a win against another struggling side.

Crescent are just behind them on score difference, looking to end a four game losing streak they will hope for a fruitful trip to Meath.

Nenagh Ormond V Ballymena, Saturday 4th March, New Ormond Park, 2:30pm

Nenagh are looking to remain in the promotion hunt if they can keep a recent run of form going.

The hosts have won all bar one of their ties since the new year with a draw with Navan the only time we haven’t seen them secure a win, they have claimed huge scalps and are out to be in the promotion fight.

Ballymena moved up two spots last weekend and will look to remain in the mid table spots, to ensure with a handful of games left they don’t fall into a relegation battle.

UL Bohemian V Dolphin, Saturday 4th March, Annacotty, 2:30pm

A battle of the bottom to will be a tense showdown on Shannonside in another Munster derby.

UL jumped off bottom last weekend as they bagged their third win of the season over Old Crescent, it doesn’t quite ease their safety prospects but it is enough to not face the chop automatically, nine points between them and the safety spots.

Dolphin will need a big performance in Annacotty to regain the pot lost to the Robins last weekend, just two wins for the Cork side this season but this could be a crucial last chance at points for both.
