AIL Preview: Division 2B Week 15

The promotion race will be a key talking point again this weekend, Rainey and Dungannon have the last two spots but face serious competition, while Corinthians are still in a title hunt.

Belfast Harlequins V Greystones, Saturday 4th March, Deramore Park, 2:30pm

Greystones will look to remain top of the table and secure salvation to 2A if they can keep their unbeaten record alive against Harlequins.

The Belfast side dropped to sixth in recent weeks and will now look to secure a win that gets them back in the promotion hunt, just three points is the gap as this division is getting intense.

Greystones were top performers last weekend in a 40 point win over Sligo, they are nine points clear and with 14 games unbeaten are looking to march on for the title.

Dungannon V Enniscorthy, Saturday 4th March, Stevenson Park, 2:30pm

With the threat of relegation looming large, a win for Scorthy is crucial, while for Dungannon a crack at the playoffs is at stake.

Dungannon have a two point lead over the chasing pack when it comes to their top four spot, winning just two of their four they have dropped points but still hold on fourth, they will see this game as one where points are a must.

For Scorthy they will face the chop unless they can get results to finish in 9th spot and have to survive the playoff stages, they have picked up some form in recent weeks and a win last weekend leaves three between them and Wegians.

Galway Corinthians V Wanderers, Saturday 4th March, Corinthian Park, 2:30pm

Corinthians for the second weekend in a row suffered a setback to their title push, they look for more points as promotion chasing Wanderers head west.

Corinthians could face a third defeat in a row unless they can turn the tide this time around, they may have to settle for the playoffs if they cannot finish the season on a high note having worked so hard earlier in the season.

Wanderers meanwhile could reach the top four if they can get points and results elsewhere favours their ascension, a win last weekend makes up for their one point defeat to Sligo, however they toppled the Galway side earlier this year.

Malahide V Rainey Old Boys, Saturday 4th March, Estuary Road, 2:30pm

Rainey will hope to solidify their spot in the promotion playoffs at the weekend if they can topple a strong Malahide.

The hosts failed to register a score in their previous encounter in October, but a two game winning streak has them in good shape ahead of this weekends tie, the promotion spots may not be too far out of reach but points will be the aim.

Rainey meanwhile started the year strong and despite a win over Enniscorthy the beginning of last month, they suffered defeat to Wegians last weekend which might knock their confidence, having done so well to make the top four this season now is not the time to blow their chances.

Sligo V Galwegians, Saturday 4th March, Hamilton Park (Strandhill), 2:30pm

In the Connacht Derby picture, Sligo and Galwegians meet in Sligo with both hoping to strengthen their survival hopes.

Sligo are the same gap in the table from the bottom two places than they are to the top four, with how the games are fixed they will hoe for mid table but if the right things work who knows just how high they can finish if the wins come in.

Wegiabs were strengthened by their win last weekend, but neighbours Corinthians could not do them a favour in their hopes of staying up, having been in the same situation last season, they will know what is needed to keep them in 2B.
