Roundup: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Clontarf remain two points clear at the top of the Energia Division 1A All-Ireland league after their 27-7 victory over Dublin University.

Second place Lansdowne kept up the pace with the league leaders after their 48-15 victory over UCD, whilst Ballynahinch remain winless at the foot of the table.

Clontarf 27-7 Dublin University:

Cormac Daly’s hat-trick and a penalty try ensured Clontarf regained their place at the top of the table.

The hosts are flying high with 33 points after seven wins from their opening eight games, whilst the students are down to seventh on 18 points.

Lansdowne 48-15 UCD:

Title-hungry Lansdowne kept up the pace with Clontarf as they thrashed UCD courtesy of tries from Peter Dooley, Luke Thompson, Josef Szpara, Cormac Foley, Peter Sullivan, a penalty try and a brace from Jamie Kavanagh.

Lansdowne are in second with 31 points, whilst UCD are in eighth with 10 points.

Terenure College 39-0 Ballynahinch:

It’s gone from bad to worse for winless Ballynahinch who were blown out by a ruthless Terenure College side, that registered six unanswered tries through Campbell Classon, Conor McCormack, Luke Clohessy, Peter Sylvester, Jordan Coghlan and Craig Adams.

The home side are in fourth with 22 points, whilst Ballynahinch are in 10th on just four points.

UCC 0-45 Cork Constitution:

The home fans endured a horrific display from their side as they were swept aside by the merciless visitors.

Cork Constitution are up to third on 26 points after braces from Luke McAuliffe, Paddy Casey, Cathal O’Flaherty and a penalty try, whilst UCC fall to ninth on just five points.

Young Munster 20-16 Garryowen:

In an entertaining contest at Tom Clifford Park, Young Munster saw off Garryowen courtesy of tries from Dan Walsh and Conor Hayes.

Young Munster are up to fourth with 25 points, while Garryowen are down to sixth with 21 points.
