Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Round 12 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1A gets underway on Saturday afternoon, with all five games taking place at 2:30pm.

Clontarf head into the weekend at the top of the table, winning 10 of their first 11 games. Lansdowne find themselves five points behind after a shock defeat to UCD. 

Lansdowne vs Garryowen, Aviva Stadium

Lansdowne will look to rebound from their 32-27 defeat to UCD as they welcome Garryowen to the Aviva Stadium.

The hosts desperately need to rebound after dropping to five points behind league leaders Clontarf, despite losing just their second match of the season.

Clontarf vs UCC, Castle Avenue

League leaders Clontarf will look to win their 12th game of the season as they face UCC at Castle Avenue.

The match pits the second best attack in the league in terms of points and joint first in terms of try bonus points against a team, who is currently rock bottom and has conceded the most points in the league.

Young Munster vs Dublin University, Tom Clifford Park 

Fourth place Young Munster welcome Dublin University to Tom Clifford Park in Division 1A.

Dublin University dominated the fixture between the sides earlier this season, winning 38-3 at College Park in November. 

Terenure College vs UCD, Lakelands Park

UCD will look to build off their win against Lansdowne as they head to Lakelands Park to take on the high-flying Terenure College.

Terenure College come into this game as arguably the hottest team in the competition, winning their last six games and haven’t lost since late October.

Cork Constitution vs Ballynahinch, Temple Hill 

Fifth meets ninth Cork Constitution welcome Ballynahinch to Temple Hill in Division 1A.

Cork Constitution have struggled to find consistency in recent weeks, with two wins and two losses and find themselves behind Young Munster in the table.
