Preview: AIL – Men’s Division 1A

Round nine of the Energia Division 1A All-Ireland league kicks off this Saturday, with all five matches kicking off at 2:30pm.

Clontarf leads the way but have title rivals Lansdowne hot on their heels, just two points behind them, whilst Ballynahinch remain winless at the foot of the table.

Ballynahinch vs Lansdowne, Ballymacarn Park, Referee: Jonny Erskine

The home side are yet to pick up a win this season, picking up just four points and face the daunting task of hosting second place Lansdowne.

Lansdowne are second on 31 points, trailing league leaders Clontarf by two points.

Cork Constitution vs Terenure College, Temple Hill, Referee: Daniel Carson

Third place Cork Constitution are the league’s top points scorers – 209 points and are seven points behind league leaders Clontarf.

Fifth place Terenure College are on 22 points but can leapfrog their opponents with a bonus point win.

Dublin University vs UCC, College Park, Referee: Shane Kierans

Two teams that have made slow starts to the season meet at College Park on Saturday, with the hosts in seventh place with 18 points.

Whilst UCC are in ninth with five points, having won just once this season and possess the league’s leakiest defence – 246 points conceded.

Garryowen vs Clontarf, Dooradoyle, Referee: Kieran Barry

Sixth placed Garryowen host the league leaders at Dooradoyle, with the home side experiencing a mixed start to the season with four wins and four losses.

Clontarf are top with 33 points, having won seven out of their opening eight games.

UCD vs Young Munster, Belfield, Referee: George Clancy

The home side have endured a poor start to their campaign, as they lie in eighth with ten points.

Young Munster have started the season well in fourth with 25 points and will be favourites going into this encounter.
