Tries from Malakai Fekitoa and Antoine Frisch saw Munster become the first side in over a year to beat the Glasgow Warriors in Scotstoun, booking a URC SF spot in the process.

Munster would lose Peter O'Mahony, RG Snyman & Conor Murray all with knocks in the opening half and a few more walking wounded before the end of the tie, but now have a semi-final to prepare for.

A monstrous defensive work rate by Munster got them over the line, they are known for this and forced Glasgow to make mistakes, the hosts ending the day with 14 men as Munster held their composure in the second half despite a late try by the home side, they were composed to see it out.

Munster were up against it from the off, losing Peter O’Mahony to an early injury was also a big blow for them, looks like the Munster flanker picked up an arm injury in a tackle attempt in the early exchanges.

It was backs to the wall stuff by Munster as the Glasgow side were at full speed in the early minutes, but there was life in the Irish side as RG Snyman forced a knock on in midfield and then Calvin Nash earned a penalty after not being released by two tacklers.

However again they were put under pressure, discipline was poor and luckily for them the referee never went to the pocket, Antoine Frisch was penalised at the breakdown, then Stephen Archer strayed offside, it was desperate defending by the visitors as they conceded  another penalty the cards stayed in the pocket but the referee was having words.

Tadhg Beirne was acting captain and he was a big impact in the Munster line, he forced a turnover in the Glasgow maul as Munster had a scrum, minutes later they were awarded a penalty for a neck roll on Gavin Coombes.

Snyman was lost to a HIA, the big man not returning to the field for the remainder of the tie, with Fineen Wycherley, Snyman out after he collided with Jack Crowley in the air.

A sigh of relief was let out from the Irish faithful who travelled to Glasgow as Jean Kleyn made a hames of an overlap with Jack Dempsey stream rolling over for the home side but he was held up for the grounding.

In typical Munster fashion they survived and soaked up so much pressure, then three minutes later they grabbed the opening try, they worked the ball up the field from their own 22, going through the phases they stretched the Warriors defence and Malakai Fekitoa gave a little shimmy and a shake before he stretched over for a try. Crowley converted and Munster had silenced the home crowd.

Another big momentum boost would come Munster’s way four minutes later but at a price, Glasgow lost the ball at the maul with Conor Murray quick to spot the loose ball and dart away on a break away move, he was chased and a forceful impact from Tom Jordan saw him into touch, the collision needed a TMO review, the call of deliberate shoulder to head contact saw the Glasgow fly-half sent off.

It looked like he had pulled his hamstring in the lead up, but Murray was down and off with a HIA, the second for Munster and the second not to return, Glasgow on 26 minutes would finish the game with 14.

A kick to the corner was the call from the penalty and a minute later pressure and an extra body paid off, Glasgow were adjudged offside as they were a mess at the back with the ball working to Antoine Frisch who powered over for the second try, Crowley two from two from the tee to double their lead to 14 points.

Glasgow searched for a score after the half hour mark but a side entry saw Munster able to clear any threat with a penalty, but the visitors still were in control and looked to add another score, Calvin Nash had a great chance as he chipped over the defence with Ollie Smith failing to cover it first time, he took the ball over for a Munster 5m scrum.

Pressure continued and Munster used their phase play with the forwards well and would get over once again, however the TMO again was needed and the ruling was no try and another scrum, Glasgow held tough and forced Munster to make an error out wide, with the sides heading to the break Munster had a foot in the semi finals.

Into the second half, Munster attacked quickly from the off but an error in the movement allowed the hosts a penalty, Niall Scannell on at the break went off his feet at a ruck and Glasgow got more ground into the Munster half.

Kleyn again was superb in defence, stopping Glasgow before Crowley found half way from his own goal line, Warriors would find their way back to attack Munster as again they were penalised for some misdemeanours, but a knock on forced a turnover in the scrum and again they were on a knife edge but surviving.

Glasgow had a fair share of possession in the Munster half from plenty of mistakes, they would punish Munster as they sprayed the ball out wide with a dangerous attack, Kyle Steyn crossing the whitewash to make ot 14-5, the conversion dragging wide and they could breathe a massive let off from the home side.

The ending was dramatic and frantic, as Munster went in search of the insurance score, Sione Tuipulotu was yellow carded after another head collision in the centre, this time it was Fekitoa hit to the ground, Warriors down to 13, Munster played the clock to their advantage, running phases being held short at every attempt, they would eventually be held up as Jeremey Loughman bore over.
