W6N: Dominant England claim 11-try win over Ireland

11 tries from England gave them a dominant 69-0 win over Ireland, at Welford Road this afternoon, in the Tik Tok Women's Six Nations Championship.

Having been ahead 10-0 at the break, their second half performance was dominant as they chase a fifth crown in six years, they have shown class and power deserving of their favourite tag.

Ireland will be disappointed having played well in the opening half, but their display was frustrating in the second with Dorothy Wall being sin binned and Sene Naoupu being sent off, worry also Eimear Considine being stretchered off in the second half.

The English were over early after just three minutes, their forward line showing power to drive Ireland back, an indication of what was to come for the contest, with Lark Davis getting over for a 5-0 lead.

They could have had a second minutes later only for a forward pass in the build up, but the Irish defence were holding firm in trying to keep out the Red Roses, but they were having to defend with everything they had.

Again it was another forward who would cross for the hosts, Sarah Bern the one to cross next for their second try of the afternoon, making it 10-0 after 18 minutes.

Positives from the opening half as Ireland had kept it to a 10-0 deficit, their only attempt at the posts was a missed penalty from Nicole Cronin.

The second half display was a clinical one scoring five further tries, laying down a marker ahead of a meeting with the French in the coming weeks.

They crossed just two minutes after the restart with Marlie Packer driving over for their third try, the bonus point secured three minutes later with Davis adding a second try of the afternoon.

It would get worse for Ireland with Wall going to the sin bin, the English capitalising with Lydia Thompson and Poppy Cleall both crossing to make it 36-0 after 56 minutes.

Hannah Botterman continued the ruthless nature of the English forwards, off another maul she found the space to cross just minutes after coming off the bench on her return from injury.

Cleall added a second after the hour mark, before Ellie Kildunne made it nine tries on the board, after a lovely move saw her skip past two Irish players before crossing, the move would see Naoupu sent off for a high tackle, with England now ahead 57-0.

Just six minutes after getting her first Kildunne crossed again, this time having to spot a narrow gap and get in for their tenth of the afternoon, Ireland again struggling to keep them at bay and with 14 on the field it was a tough ask.

Just three minutes from time Thompson crossed for a second, the forwards doing their job to drive Ireland back before the winger received the pass to cross for try number 11, a dominant display from the number one ranked side in the word.
