AIL Preview: Women’s Division Round 12

Before a whistle sounds this weekend, UL Bohemian are 11 wins from 11 and pull further clear at the summit following a walkover this weekend, elsewhere Blackrock College return to action in the Women’s Division.

Ballincollig v Cooke, Saturday February 17th, Tanner Park, 5pm

After ending their losing run last weekend, Ballincollig will aim to build on that positive result as they face Cooke in front of the cameras this weekend.

With the Clovers not set for action this weekend, their hope will be some of their selected players will be able to play this weekend. College looked strong against Sutts last weekend with that bonus point win and have some clinical scorers on their books when given space.

After a strong run prior to that cup final defeat, Cooke aim to avoid a third straight defeat in all competitions this weekend. While they lost to Railway last weekend they battled till the end and showed just what they can do, they will want that momentum to follow on this weekend.

Blackrock College v Wicklow, Saturday February 17th, Stradbrook, 5pm

Blackrock Women will take to the field just after their male side are in action and hope to return to winning ways in the Women’s Division.

Rock last played a competitive game at the beginning of January when they faced UL Bohs in a 32-22 defeat in the cup. Blackrock fell to defeat on the last day of the league action prior to the Christmas break, now they return hoping to take the points against Wicklow.

An all Leinster affair as Wicklow make a short trip to the captial, Wicklow lost out on making a winning start to the second half of the season last weekend with a 13 point defeat at home to Belvedere. In their history Wicklow have not beaten Blackrock, can they end that this weekend.

Railway Union v Galwegians, Saturday February 17th, Park Avenue, 5pm

With UL Bohs now 11 points clear at the summit, Railway Union look to keep their spot in second place and work their way back to a final.

Having started off with a win for the second half of the season they want to continue that going forward. Railway were made to work for the win in Belfast and Maddy Aberg shone in the win, the determination was there by a host of their squad to answer the call with many players away with international commitments.

Galwegians could cause something of an upset this weekend if they manage to overcome Railway. Something that has now happened in their last four games as Railway have clocked one sided wins, coming off the back of a tough defeat to UL Bohs, the plate champions want to take a win this weekend.

UL Bohemian *28-0 Suttonians

UL Bohemian awarded a 28-0 bonus point win as Suttonians conceded the fixture, Sutts deducted five points as a result.
