Roundup: AIL – Men’s Division 2B

League leaders Greystones got back to winning ways in Division 2B of the Energia AIL; Belfast Harlequins continue their good run of form; and Wanderers put a halt to Malahide’s five-game winning streak. All this and much more happened on Saturday.

Belfast Harlequins 23-20 Blackrock College RFC
A late Daryl Marshall maul try was enough to earn Belfast Harlequins a tight victory.  They scored 4 tries on their way to victory, securing the bonus point which puts them in the playoff places in 3rd position.

For Blackrock, their hopes of reaching the top 4 aren’t over. They sit 5th with 3 games to go, 3 points shy of Wanderers in 4th.

Galwegians 41-30 Dungannon
Galwegians got a much needed victory, only their second win of the season. The Galway men were able to secure their first try bonus of the year, however, they still only sit on 11 points at the foot of the table.

Dungannon led the contest 17-14 at one stage in the game, but, they were beaten by the betrer team on the day. They sit 7th. One more win should secure their division 2b status for next season.

Greystones 53 -28 Ballina
Greystones have had a tough couple of weeks losing to Belfast Harlequins and Blackrock with uncharacteristic performances, although, they got back to winning ways in Dr Hickey Park at the weekend.

The hosts scored 13 tries on their way to victory, as they still hold 1st  position in the standings. For the Mayo men, they are still in the danger zone with a relegation playoff looming.

Sligo 22-28 Galway Corinthians
Galway Corinthians came out the right side of the Connacht derby at the weekend.

Both teams secured try bonus points in a contest which had plenty of tries.

Wanderers 45-15 Malahide 
Wanderers put themselves in the top-4 with an impressive display against an inform Malahide.
