Greystones extended their lead at the summit of Division 2B to 13 points after a bonus point victory over Galwegians at Dr.Hickey Park.

Malahide shocked Galway Corinthians into their first loss in seven games with a bonus point victory at Corinthian Park. Belfast Harlequins and Blackrock College both came from behind to defeat Sligo and Wanderers respectively while Dungannon defeated Ballina at Heffernan Park.

Greystones 59-7 Galwegians, Saturday 29th January, Dr.Hickey Park.

Stones made it eleven wins from twelve games this afternoon with an emphatic win over bottom side Galwegians. Two tries from Nick Quirk, Dan Mannion and Alex Ryan sealed the win for the league leaders.

Wegians started the affair strongly and after Ben McGuinness first half try, Wegians would have felt that they were still in the game.

Sadly for the visitors, Greystones game management and free flowing rugby proved to be too much for the Connacht side.

Galway Corinthians 17-37 Malahide, Saturday 29th January, Corinthian Park.

Malahide shocked second placed Galway Corinthians into a rare home defeat this afternoon. The bonus point win for Malahide moves the side from the capital into eighth place, leapfrogging Ballina in the process.

It’s Dungannon next for Galway Corinthians after the three-week break while Malahide travel to Crowley Park to face Galwegians.

Blackrock College 31-26 Wanderers, Saturday 29th January, Stradbrook.

It was yet another last minute, heartbreaking defeat for Wanderers today after Blackrock College came from behind to steal the winning points.

Rock now go three points clear of their Dublin rivals and sit level on points with Galway Corinthians in second place. Wanderers host Ballina next after the mid-season break while Blackrock College travel to promotion rivals Sligo.

Belfast Harlequins 32-22 Sligo, Saturday 29th January, Deramore Park.

Quins made a remarkable comeback to seal a bonus point win over Sligo at Deramore Park today. Sligo led 22-3 with just under half an hour remaining, but Belfast Harlequins fought back to claim a well-deserved win over the Connacht side.

Tries from Donnacha Byrne and Gui Coghetto looked to have sent Sligo on their way to an important win, but they couldn’t see the game out to take the points.

Sligo face Blackrock College next while Belfast Harlequins travel to the in-form Greystones.

Ballina 19-28 Dungannon, Saturday 29th January, Heffernan Park.

Dungannon will be relieved to get back to winning ways after not finding themselves on the right side of the scoreline since November.

Ballina drop to ninth place in the standings after Malahide’s bonus point win while Dungannon remain in seventh place, five points adrift of Sligo in sixth.

The Tyrone men face Galway Corinthians next while Ballina travel to Merrion Road to play Wanderers.
