Round 13 of the Energia All-Ireland Division 1B served up a cracker with a number of tight games to savour.

Old Wesley produced a breaktaking display as they comfortably disposed of Highfield, and Shannon were in imperious form as they annihilated Navan at Thomond Park.

Old Wesley 30-3 Highfield, Donnybrook

Old Wesley stretched their lead at the top of Division 1B as they hammered Highfield 30-3 at Donnybrook.

The hosts were in imperious form from the outset as Ian Cassidy added six quick points from the tee before Alex Molloy raced in for the opening score of the game to give the hosts a 13-3 lead at the break.

Old Wesley picked up where they left off in the second half as they added a further three scores from Josh Pim, Thomas O’Callaghan and Charlie O’Regan to claim a statement win at home.

Shannon 62-0 Navan, Thomond Park

Shannon were in dominant form as they overpowered a woeful Navan in a 62-0 at Thomond Park.

The hosts were in an imperious mood as they racked up the bonus point in the first half thanks to scores from Ronan Coffey, Kelvin Brown, Killian Dineen and Alex Long, before adding a further five tries in the second period to send their fans home with a wide smile.

Old Belvedere 24-23 St Mary’s College, Ollie Campbell Park

St Mary’s College missed the chance to overtake Highfield as they fell to a surprising 24-23 defeat at Ollie Campbell Park.

The visitors trailed 3-15 at the break, but produced a sensational second-half fightback as two tries in the final five minutes from Calum Dowling and Joe Horan helped Old Belvedere claim a memorable victory.

Banbridge 22-15 Malone, Rifle Park

Banbridge claimed their first win in a month as they edged Malone 22-15 at Rifle Park.

Malone briefly threatened a fightback as Clayton Milligan scored a converted try just after the break, but couldn’t overcome a sizeable 22-3 halftime deficit and had to make do with a losing bonus point as Dave Cave crashed over at the death.

City of Armagh 20-21 Naas, Palace Grounds

Naas claimed their fifth victory in six games as they claimed a tight 20-21 win against City of Armagh at the Palace Grounds.

Two missed conversions from Harry Boyd proved to be the difference as the City of Armagh failed to overcome a 13-14 halftime deficit, despite a late converted try from Matthew Hooks.
